To be honest, I think it depends on one's career aspirations. As much as I love Kelley, if I knew I wanted to work for M/B/B in consulting or work for one of the top i-banks, I would pick Ross/Fuqua/Stern over a full-ride at Kelley in a heart beat. Now, if one wanted to go into marketing, IMHO a person would be an idiot to turn down that full ride.

True, you might not be able to break in easily to the "top three" consulting firms from Kelley. But my two cents is there are definitely students at Kelley who are making a go of it in both consulting and investment banking. And if you do go down one of those paths, when you get your job you'll still be working alongside MBAs from the MBA programs that were mentioned who also didn't break into those firms. Here is a listing of companies that recently hired Kelley MBAs http://kelley.iu.edu/GCS/Recruiting/Top ... 20451.html

Its already April now.. And the second year gets over in May first week..
Any idea on the placement statistics for this year at Kelley?
It would be really helpful if some one can tell the scenario for internationals??

They provided the data at the KEW sessions yesterday.

I believe the 2nd year placement percentage is ~74% as of Friday, which is tracking something like 6% higher than last year at this date. They did not break it down by domestic vs. internationals. I would put in a call/email to career services. They should have the stats and should be able to help you.

It was also mentioned that internship offers are looking very positive. Last year 100% received internships and they are shooting for that number again this year.

With my experience and all the great things I hear about Kelley , I can certainly say Kelley will be a great choice.

I will be joining Kelley and very excited about it.

Going away from home was tough decision to make but can't ignore kelley's wonderful program.

hey guys, congrats to all who were admitted! i have been hearing awesome things about this program.

i was wondering if someone could answer a few questions about the admissions process in Kelley. I applied with a 3.1 GPA in Electrical Engineering from Penn State with a GMAT of 610 and approx 18 months of full time professional engineering experience. I have an interview on the 25th of April and am nervous about what is about to go down. Does anyone know some of the more common interview questions and could you give some advice as to what sort of answers i should give?

Also, i do not know how to take an interview invitation (in terms of how close i may be to getting admitted) since this is my first interview for a MBA program (started applications a bit late). Is this interview a GOOD thing or is it just part of the common application process?

Any advice is incredibly appreciated! I hope to be part of the 2013 class with you guys! :-D

Scroll back a few pages pages to see what people were asked. Nothing out of the ordinary for the most part.
Why do you want an MBA?
Why now?
What Kelley?

Indiana interviews a lot of people, its not make or break by any means, but of course you dont wanna blow it.
Dont feel scared, but be prepared for the standard questions, more of which are located throughout this thread. There are some great tid bits about Kelley so I suggest you go through all of it!

My interviewer was amazing, he put me at ease right away and I still talk to him via email!

As far as what to say, only speak the truth. People get caught up with what they think a school wants to hear, dont do that. Unless you are a great actor they will spot it a mile away, its what they do. Tell them the truth, reread your essays (think about it they like what you said enough to interview you, now bring it on home)

Also dont tell them you are a philly fan, then they know you arent to be trusted and you'll get rejected on the spot.

Ok that last bit was a jab from a Giants Fan. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Tom,
Can you share the employment numbers?
By any chance do you have the numbers for internationals??

At this point it isn't broken down by domestic vs. international I am afraid.

Phil Powell, the lively and animated Kelley MBA faculty chair, posts updates on his twitter account at: http://twitter.com/PhilipTPowell

His last update was this morning:
"As of Sunday night: 2nd year job offer rate = 77% (up from 68% this time last year); 1st year internship offer rate = 82% (up from 76%)."

Not surprisingly, the impression that I got was that that not having a job yet is often related to inflexibility or geographic restrictions. That is, if you need to find a marketing research position in Memphis (say, because your wife lives in memphis and you just would die if you didn't do market research), it just requires a lot more work to find employment than say if you just wanted to be an assistant brand manager at a CPG company but were open to any geographic locale. I think that pretty much applies to any profession.

In the wake of the economic downturn a couple of years ago the Kelley administration and student body made a concerted effort to try to boost employment, and I think if you ask anyone who was at KEW they will tell you how blown away they were about the supportive culture of the "Team Kelley" atmosphere. For instance, students who already had internships/full-time jobs lined up played a pretty active role in helping in their fellow classmates secure jobs.

So no more financial aid available..
I dont know what happens to those aid where the students have declined the offer??
I know atleast 7-8 people who have declined just before the may 1st deadline.
Would the adcom wait for some more time before they start again to send the aid??

As far as aid for those that declined, I would assume that it often just evaporates. Every school knows that only a certain yield % will end up matriculating, so they give out many more offers than they have spots. I would assume the same goes for scholarship packages.

Perhaps they give themselves a bit of a cushion there, and if the yield percentage on scholarship offers is significantly less than they had anticipated they send out a few "late" scholarship offers? I do know of one R2 admit who got some $$ just after KEW.

Good luck guys. Met some great current Indiana FT MBA students interning at various CPGs and other internships in NYC at happy hours this summer. They raved about their program. :-D

Hi everyone,

I will definitely be applying for R2 ("Priority").

I'm way older than most of the folks here (35 at matriculation), but hope that my IU connection will count for something ;-)

I have a J.D. from IU-Bloomington (rec'd in 2002 cuz i'm ancient) (top 2% of the class). I had something to prove after flunking out of my first undergrad when I was 18/19 :-D

Anyways, I absolutely love Bloomington and knew quite a few of the business school students and they loved their time there as well.

I am planning to apply to Kelley too for 2011 MBA and also MS-IS.
So, count me in.

I am planning to give GMAT by Oct '10 and will most probably apply in the R2.

Just want to give a shout out to all of you who are considering applying to Kelley. I just started here two weeks ago (orientation ended this past Thursday) and am incredibly excited about this program. First-years start an intense Core curriculum this semester so I'm not sure how much I'll be checking this site but feel free to reach out with any questions. In case anyone's wondering I grew up in NY and worked in MA after college and before coming out here.
