Awaiting the call. Ever time the phone rights at at night gives me the jumps. It's 12 hours time difference for me. Interview completed 10 days ago.

People who got the call: who called you? admin or Ambassador?
Thanks

Are all the interviewed applicants for the J-Term? No ED applicants have been interviewed?

Re: Columbia 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
I was caught off guard when I received the call. I was expecting to see a New York area code and instead it was displayed as an "unknown number" on my caller id.
I was surprised to be speaking with CBS's Director of Admissions. She knew all about my profile and started discussing details about my background. She also told me that one of her admissions coleagues was going to be in my city in approx. two weeks for some events and asked me to attend.

On a side note... When I logged into the admitted students website I was surprised to find out that they only gave me 2 weeks to make a committment to matriculate and send in my deposit. Not really a big deal for me personally, but just wanted to give you all a heads up.

Hey guys, accepted for J-term as well. I live in the city already and went as an undergrad so if you have questions about the campus or city, feel free to shoot me a PM. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to the others applying.

Hi there. I plan on submitting an application to Columbia next year. I have two questions that I hope some of you can answer:

1) When did the online application system open for 2012 applicants? Is it correct that some students apply in July via ED and already get their interview + receive decision outcome in August, i.e. a year in advance of the start date?

2) How do you ask your supervisor for a recommendation… I mean… When you ask for the recommendation, basically you're supervisors know you might leave the firm within the next 10 months?

Thanx.

I dont know what day exactly it opened, but as you can see from the beginning of this thread its been open for a while. As far as interview invites for ED, i dont think anyone on this thread has gotten an interview invite. They seem to still be doing J-Term decisions. If you look at last years thread though, you will be able to see all the dates of when people applied to ED and when they were invited/received decisions (just search for 2011 calling columbia). Similarly for this year, if you wait 2/3 months you would be able to see all the dates for application/invites/decisions.

As far as asking current supervisors, I just went up and told mine. I've noticed some difference since I asked but not a lot, I guess your situation will vary. If you absolutely can't ask your current supervisor, most schools will understand that, but you have to disclose why somewhere in your app.

One of my supervisors actually pretty much asked me to write the recommendation for him, i'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. :?

Would any of the J-Term interviewees and admits mind sharing some of the questions you were asked during the interview?

ClearAdmit's website (see here) has lots of submitted interview questions from the 2011 cycle. It would be helpful to know if these are still applicable.

Hi miambaprosp, Congratulations on your admission.

I noticed that you worked in the Manufacturing industry and your future goals are in the general management and entrepreneurship. I have the similar background and goals as you do. May I ask based on your experience during the application and talking with adcoms, how do you think Columbia fits your career goals in terms of its curriculum and alumni network?

Thanks

Re: Columbia 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
My interview went pretty much the same as the ones described on the clear admit website. When you schedule the interview on the cbs website they email the alumni a standard list of questions...
-Walk me through your resume/Tell me about yourself
-Why MBA and why now?
-Why Columbia? (Big one)
-What clubs do you plan to join?
-describe a leadership role you've had
-community service roles
-describe an ethical dilema you have faced
-describe a time you have faced adversity
I do not remember them all, but the clear admit website covers the full spectrum.
