Kenan-Flagler 2012 - Calling All Applicants

Hello Guys !

I have a couple of questions:

First question is targetted at those who have already completed their interview for KFBS. Was there any question which you felt caught you slightly off-guard?

Next is a general question : Is it necessary to quote names of faculty members whose work excites you and whose classes you hope to attend. Being an international student, I didnt get a chance to visit KF or interact closely with any of them. How do you show your intrest in the faculty in such circumstances?

Hey! everyone, I went to Chapel Hill for my MAC program interview at 12th Jan. So far I am still waiting for the admission email. How long time genearlly wait to be notified after interview? If anyone has the experience or information can share with me, I am really thanks a lot!!!

(I did not call/email Stacie for asking the notification time, but call the secretary several times. am I in a polite way?)

If you look back a couple pages a bunch of people have shared their interview experience. It sounds like most people's experiences have been very similar. I interviewed last week and I thought the interview was pretty standard. It was a blind interview, lasted about 40 minutes, and there really weren't any questions that caught me off guard. It was just walk me through your resume, a few follow up questions, why MBA, why kenan-flagler, and some questions about my leadership style.

As for mentioning the names of faculty members, I think if you can speak honestly about why you want to take classes with them or why their work excites you and particularly if these points tie directly to you career goals I would go for it if they ask you why you want to attend Kenan-Flagler. I absolutely do not think this is necessary, and if you just mention names without clear reasoning it may seem out of place.

I think you can show interest in several ways. Have you reached out to any of the student ambassadors or any of these professors directly? That would be a place to start. Also, I think your interest can be shown by the questions you chose to ask at the end of the interview. Through your questions you can demonstrate your depth of knowledge about the program and why it excites you.

I'm not all that familiar with the MAC program (I applied to the MBA program), but a quick look at their website indicates that if you applied by Dec 1st all decisions would be mailed by Feb 1st (tomorrow)!!

did anyone get the admit calls for the decision to be released on Feb 6th. I could see a few people(2-3) showing admit status in page 1 on feb 2nd .

Any comments on that?

I got a call yesterday and was admitted with a fellowship.

Same here. Got a call Wednesday and was admitted with a fellowship.

That makes three of us. I got a call Sunday and was admitted with a fellowship.

Does anyone know how much time do we have to accept the decision if admitted and pay the initial deposit? I am awaiting a decision from other schools as well and would like to have the maximum time possible..

If you applied R2 (Dec 2) or R3 (Jan 6) the deposit is due on April 23rd. If you applied to other schools in R2 you should have their decisions by this date.
