Hey,
Congrats on ur offer. I have also accepted the offer and paid the 4k AUD fees. Got the eCOE from the univ. Now planning to apply for student Visa. Btw how do u plan to apply for PR in such a short span of around 4-5 months ? Or r u in middle of that process? Will like to catch up with people who have received an offer.

Regards,
greywine

Hey greywine
Please let me know which OSHC insurer did you opt for while accepting the offer. Is it Medibank? AGSM provides a list of other insurers too other than Medibank. I was wondering which would be the best to opt. Kindly let me know soon as I have to accept the offer and before that the page asks to tick off the OSHC Declaration asking whether I have made any arrangements for OSHC or not..!!

Thanks
Shailaja

Hey missed ur comment. You don't need to apply for OSHC before you take the offer. You can leave the question unanswered. I will only take it before i apply for student visa.
Btw Medibank is quite expensive. From DIAC I found much cheaper option. AHM works out much cheaper.

Same case here. I received a scholarship initmation email, but in the attached file I didn't see any amount mentioned. I have mailed admissions deptt of AGSM. Lets wait and see.

Have been missing in action past few weeks.

I will share what all preparations I have been doing from my side.
Education Loan:
SBI is the best as it offers upto 30 Lakhs as comparted to other banks which offer only 20 Lakhs. So have applied with SBI ( though it ias a real pain ) . You need to be pateint with SBI Loan process. It is definitely worth the pain.

Student Visa:
I initially plan to apply for a student Visa, as I know PR visa can take 5-6 months time. Also If you receive two visa , the last one will over-ride the first visa. So it is better to go for a STudent Visa and later apply for PR. For Visa I have approached IDP education. They are specialist in this domain and they will also not charge any fees, as they get a direct cut from the university. Also they will make sure I submit all the correct documents. This decreases the amount of time it takes to grant the visa and rejection chances also decrease. As our course starts on 13th Jan, so we can only apply starting from 11th September for Student Visa (four months before course start date).

Accommodation:
I feel for initail months we should stay near to the campus, preferably in the University accommodations. Though they are slightly expensive, but it will help us get acclimatized with the City and course. I have done some research but most of the Univ accs are currently full and you need to enlist in the queue. You need to pay a small token amount to do that. Or else we can form groups and can search for a 4-5 bedroom shared accomadation.

OSHC:
From the DIAC site I can see there are 5 options. I think AHM was the cheapest. Though UNSW preferred partner is Medibank , but we can opt for our own choice.

Hi All,

Need a quick input on the below question:

At the time of submitting my application I asked for ILEST/TOFEL waiver (considering my educational and work experience background) admission committee agreed to that. Now when I am going to apply for Aus student visa, do i need to take any of these test or not?. Is it mandatory to appear for these exams in order to apply AUS student visa?

Thanks

Hey,
You can start with registering yourself at the UNSW village portal.
https://portal.clv.com.au/StarRezPortalUNSWV

Will dig in more details and post.

Hi All,

Congratulations to all who made it!
I , too, have received the admission for the 2014 batch.

My profile:
IT - 5 years
Gmat : 700

I did receive a scholarship of excellence for 25 k AUD.

I am a little confused about our fee payment structure.
I know we need to pay every semester.
So the scholarship money will be split for each semester?
After the initial 6k payment, when is the next payment due?
Also- what is the final fees for 2014-- Doesn't the site say fees indicative for 2013 only?

Congrats on your admission and scholarship.
To clear your doubts :
- You are right , we need to pay before every session. I think there are four for our course. So you have a census date for each session before which you need to finalize your subjects and payment. For first session it will open up in end November and close in December. So our first payment needs to be masde in that time frame.
- Yes, Scholarship money will be adjusted on pro-rata basis ( that's what the mail said)
- I have already answered this question as part of first answer.
- Final fees will be declared in October, but tentatively it has been set around $75040 (6% increase over previous year).

Hey Greywine,

IDP Education is for Student Visa process or the PR process. As I'll be needing some expert guidance for PR as well I was looking for some consultations on the same hence a lil confused over here on the role of IDP. Kindly let me know.

For Acco, I have been contacting two UNSW residential collegs.
1) New College Village ($340 weekly, $2500 deposit)
2) Unilodge @ UNSW ($373 weekly, $500 deposit)
Both are equally good. Facilities and price : almost same
Both have multi share 3-4 BHK serviced apartments.

Now something off the admission topic !!!

I have heard many firms expect a minimum 700 GMAT score during recruitment  Is it true for AGSM ? Should I plan to give it again before joining?

Hi Shailaja
IDP education is only for getting u admission in courses and then arranging for student Visa. I am only taking their help for getting my Student Visa Done. Btw they also told me that Streamlined Visa Processing ( which has been offered to us) can only be availed via an agent. IDP is one. Though I am not sure about that. But as they know inside out about visa processing, so I am going with them.
For PR visa you need to contact some other Visa agencies like Y-Axis. Though they charge u a lot. I am doing it myself.

For Acco i haven't started my process. But If I am not wrong I was getting good option for around $250 in Univ Acco in 5-6 bedroom shared apartment.

Also I think we should carry on these conversations on private group. I think this thread was meant for getting admission into AGSM and not about "what to do after getting admission" :)

We have started a facebook group, please join that. Also yesterday I received a mail form AGSM , where our fellow coursemate "Julian Taylor" has started the same on Facebook and LinkedIn.
