another question...
does Haas want recos to reach before R3 deadline or is there some flexibility? i tried to find an answer to this but i coulsn't...so if there is flexibility, can you cite what part of the website you got the info from?

Did you speak with Peter Johnson? no, wasn't him, but it was a member of the adcom. she called my cell phone. i saw it was area code 510 so figured it was berkeley. the first minute though, i kept waiting for a ding and for her to say, "we thought you're great, BUT..." since it took a little while before she actually said i was in. she followed up with an email recapping what we talked about and online resources for admitted students. official letter should be coming via snail mail. good luck to everyone still waiting!
