 By Tina Ray In the 2015 Poets & Quants U.S. MBA ranking, released November 18, Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business Full-Time MBA was ranked No. 25, up 10 places from the previous year. Poets & Quants releases a composite ranking based on the world’s five most influential full-time MBA rankings: U.S. News & World Report (35 percent), Forbes (25 percent), Bloomberg Businessweek (15 percent), Financial Times (15 percent), and the Economist (10 percent). Broad’s upward movement reflects a ranking of No. 22 nationally in its first year ranked by the Economist. John A. Byrne, editor of Poets & Quants, explains that “Combining the five most influential rankings doesn’t eliminate the flaws in each system, but it does significantly diminish them. When an anomaly pops on one list due to either faulty survey technique or biased methodology, bringing all the data together tends to suppress it.” Consequently, the Poets & Quants ranking is more stable and reliable—23 of the top 25 schools moved 0–2 places from their position in last year’s ranking, and the remaining school also added a new major ranking to its roster. “We are very pleased to be recognized as a top 25 MBA program when all the major ranking data are considered,” said Glenn Omura, associate dean for MBA and professional master’s programs. “Our work to nurture students’ creativity and innovation, to help them build the breadth and depth of expertise that will make them successful in their future ambitions, has been well recognized in the success of our alumni.” Poets & Quants is a news website devoted to the coverage of the business school world, with in-depth analysis of business school rankings and full-time MBA programs.
