A big congrats to all admitted students and (hopefully) fellow students. For those who have not heard back, fingers crossed! It took me about 4 weeks before I heard back after submitting my interview. Don't lose hope.

Congratulations. I see you were a bit anxious with the delay between the interview/feedback/final decision.

Thanks! Yeah the 8 days between my interview and the feedback submission felt like an eternity, but I suppose he must have said something good.

Had my interview on Friday. We had a 1 hour lunch, very pleasant and relaxed. At the end he said "we need people like you at CBS"... lol
Feedback submitted same day.
I'm trying to manage my expectations here, but I'd say that's a good sign... fingers crossed!

I've been lurking for a while and decided to finally post:

submitted: 10/7
interview invite: 11/10
interview scheduled: 11/19

first choice interviewer is travelling all month, second choice interviewer accepted after some back and forth.

It is discouraging to see that the late interviewers are getting dinged :(

Dont think that there is a pattern to it. If CBS didnt want to admit you, they wouldnt have interviewed you in the first place. Not that interview has a sure shot admittance. The most you can do is to stay positive, give your interview to the best of your abilities and hope for the best. Let us know how it goes.

Just got the call from admissions an hour or so ago!

SEE YOU GUYS NEXT YEAR! <3

Profile:
Average GMAT
Below average GPA, but 80% range
Brand management in Luxury retail as career goal
wrote very specific Columbia essay for essay 1, with ties to classes, programs, professors, clubs, students
essay 2 was a timeline of my ideal 2 years as a student at CBS taking advantage of in-semester internships, coffee chats, classes, etc.
essay 3 was about working for my dad
strong leadership and volunteer experience: chair of company LGBT group, associate board of LGBT homeless shelter
very casual interview - I kept interrupting my interviewer to ask follow-up questions during her story - it felt like a conversation.

No problem: Got the call around 1:30pm CST. I'm a white male, 27 at matriculation, consulting at a non-MBB + 1 yr at a start up. I'm at the low end of the 80% GPA range with a 730 GMAT (Q47, V42). I had decent ECs, good essays, great recommendations, and solid career goals that made sense for my experience.

I actually applied two years back, got dinged with no interview everywhere, reassessed and reapplied this year with a huge focus on CBS. It was a very long process from that perspective, but I couldn't be more thrilled to finally be going to my top choice MBA. What I'm trying to say is - this process is truly trying, but hang in there and keep at it and it will work out in the end.

Best of luck!

For those of you who got dinged after interview, how did the interview go? I wonder if it's the interviewer making the accept/reject call, or the admission who reviews the app again (with the interview as a new data point) and make that decision?

Interview went well. My interviewer told me twice during the interview that he sees me as a good fit for Columbia and that he will definitely recommend me for admission. So interview can not really be make or break. I would say the final application review would be the judgement call. I believe getting an interview invite right at the end of the ED invitation window should have been an indication.

Man that sucks, I think it's unprofessional that the interviewer sending out positive (or negative) indicator yet it's not promising... he shouldn't have done that IMO. :(
Anyways, thanks for sharing this, really helpful, and good luck to the rest of your application.
