I am under the impression that Col's essay 1 is mainly focused on the future and that any previous experience should be kept under 100 words or less. what do you all think about this?

In terms of the EC, I think the best way is to work that portion into your essay one when you discuss about clubs and organizations when asnwering "How will Columbia help you achieve your goals".

Same as J-term essays, you just don't need to do #4. Go check out the 2009 Application Information thread.

here are the essays:

View via Google: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 1370&hl=en

Please provide an example of a team failure of which you've been a part. If given a second chance, what would you do differently? (Recommended 500 word limit) :

(Optional) Is there any further information that you wish to provide to the Admissions Committee? (Please use this space to provide an explanation of any areas of concern in your academic record or your personal history.) :

Gotta go visit an operation management class later.... flight delayed caused me the opportunity for a different class..... :x

BTW, anyone noticed that optional essay has no word limit?
Anyone else aiming for a 10-page optional essay? :-D

It feels a little bit different from what djhouse was posting about...
The formating, I mean
I was expecting "form type," not uploading a word document.
In any case I didn't see last years' app, so I cannot really confirm for sure. :p

Guys, anyone figure out what the difference is between the "Employment History" section on the application and the resume upload in the next section? The application says you only need to upload a resume for scholarship consideration - so is it not supposed to be a professional resume, then?

I think they are different.

Does anyone know what does Salary PIN (in Work History section) mean?

Christina on the Businessweek forums said if you don't know what "Salary PIN" is, just leave it blank.

Thank you Solaris!
Do you know if the 400 charactor means 400 words? How do we count number of charactors?

400 characters, I believe, more or less means 400 keystrokes - for instance, "this sentence is 33 characters."

So, 400 characters is WAY less than 400 words.

Your word processing software's "Word Count" tool or equivalent will tell you how many characters you have in a paragraph.
