Do people find that the trading floor at Cornell helps with S&T recruitment?

How is S&T at Cornell? Is it one of the "hot" industries that students are looking to break into? Or are most people looking at IB, IM and MC?

As far as I know, everyone who focused on S&T got an internship this yr, hope it helps.

I'm sure this might have discussed in an earlier thread...but I just had a look at Johnson's job placement statistics at the school's website. As an international candidate, I'm interested in the figures for the non-U.S. students, and the numbers seem surprisingly low:

Class of 2009
percent of non-US graduates with offers 67 %
of which accepted 61 %

With Johnson's hands-on program, I thought that the program might open many doors. If anyone can share his/her insight on this, I would really appreciate.

Thanks!

FYI....

Hi,

I'd like to invite you to our next live chat event. On Tuesday, June 22 at noon ET, Randall Sawyer, assistant dean of admissions, financial aid, and inclusion at the Cornell Johnson School, will take questions on everything from writing the application essay to campus culture during a live chat event.

To participate in the chat, you should head to the Chat Auditorium (https://forums.businessweek.com/n/pfx/fo ... g=bw-chats) about 10 minutes before the scheduled event. You may be prompted to create a user name and password. It's free and should only take a few minutes. If you have questions on how to participate, please feel free to get in touch.

We look forward to your participation. Thanks for your interest.

All the best,

I'm in. I just got the call today at work. Wasn't expecting it at all since I was waitlisted for what seemed like a lifetime and didn't get a feedback session until about last week.

Don't give up hope, there are still slots avail!

Congrats ilpinguino! Are you an international student and if so, which country are you from?

Did adcom mention whether they're still reviewing the waitlist actively? Also, are feedback sessions necessary prior to admission offers or it depends on the candidate?

Congrats again and you definitely give us waitlisters hope!!!

I am a domestic student. GMAT: 710, Undergrad GPA: 4.0.

Feedback session was like an interview, except a bit more casual. They called me out of the blue and didn't send any emails, but idk if that's the norm or not.

As far as the waitlist goes, all they really said was that they had met this week to discuss more openings and they would still be making decisions up to the first day of orientation. Sorry if that's kinda vague, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who was up for review.

I need to reassign my lease, as well. Newer apartment located in North Campus area, one of the very few apartments in Ithaca to have washer/dryer in unit. On bus line. Have paid security deposit already. PM me if interested.

Current info on the WL:

"RandallAtCornell: We are in the process of thinning the waitlist. While I cannot tell you what your chances are, I can tell you that we have thinned the list by nearly 70 percent in the last couple of weeks, so congratulations on making it this far. We'll do more on Monday of next week, but no one knows what will happen at this time. We are nearly full for the class, so there are still seats available and it changes on a daily basis. Good luck to you!"

as of June 28, 2010.

hey guy i am just curious if everyone already paid the Kroll Background verification fee since i don't hear anyone talking about it. yes i know it is nothing compare to the whole MBA cost but $150 is not small change neither. very surprised to me because the charge that was never mention to me until after i submitted my deposit and i feel i got ripped off because i have to pay no matter how much they are asking me now.

I agree, a little surprised by that credit card payment at the end. I paid as I figured it was going to need to be paid at some point. True it is a relatively small amount, but it is something that should have been mentioned.

Did you guys even get the correct name and log in details in that Kroll email? I got someone else's email and password. Not cool.

I also got someone else's name, but when I logged in, it said Welcome __________ with my correct First and Last Name.

Good to know. So I'm assuming, when you logged in all the data was pulled from your application then, not the other person's?
