Like many of you, I was quite disappointed when I was waitlisted in Round 1. But I'm proud to say that another waitlist dragon has been slayed!

For those on the waitlist from Round 1 and the new arrivals from Round 2, know that it isn't over yet. I know that it's tough to play the waiting game, but remember that you still have plenty of time to be admitted.

My only piece of advice is to be smart with your waitlist strategy. My general approach was to (a) determine what the typical waitlist candidate would do and (b) take a completely different approach. Several guides out there say that you must do x, y, & z to be admitted off waitlists, but I felt that those cookie-cutter options were to generic and did not make me stand out more than the next person. Whatever strategies you choose, make sure they showcase yourself truthfully while proclaiming your continual interest in pursing an MBA at Fuqua.

I did not request an additional letter of rec or retake the GMAT.

As waitlisters, you've been given a second chance to make an impression. Take advantage of this opportunity, and make sure that you're staying within the guidelines outlined by Fuqua.

Good luck to all and congrats to the new admits!

I booked the Hilton Durham near Duke U for $45 / night. Priceline 'Name Your Price' Area: Durham Stars: 3 1/2 Rate:$45

It is approximately 2 miles from Duke.

I am an international living in Mexico City and I just received the admission packet. It includes:
1. The official admission letter (which we already saw over the Internet)
2. A confirmation card (to fill if you are to enroll)
3. A BDW magnet
4. A Fuqua sticker
5. A Visa application form (only for internationals)
6. A USB with the videos that are on the incoming student website, and a PDF with lots of information about Duke and Durham, including next steps, deadlines and tips.

Hope this is useful.

Was there anything about financial aid/scholarships?

Hi KBCalifornia,

Yes, the packet included an envelope with scholarship information and in the PDF file there is important information about financial aid options.

I was really disappointed because due to my mistakes, my application rolled over to the 3rd round. (I took very late the TOEFL test). Not very impressive profile, GMAT 670...I have almost forgotten that I ever applied to Duke.. Surprisingly I got an interview invitation
Duke is on the top of my list and I am really glad that I' ve been given an opportunity.

Good luck to everyone. We share the same hopes.

I didn't read the whole thing beyond where it said "...As a result of the tremendous competition for the Class of 2012, we are unable to offer you a final decision at this time,...." Only after I received a letter in the mail this week asking whether I was still interested in the waitlist thingy did I read the rest of it ".... and your application has been placed on our waitlist." Interesting, Fuqua,...interesting.... _________________ Leadership is not really about telling people what to do — a strategy that doesn't always work. I applied for FTMBA under R2 and got a denial letter. Today(3/26), to my surprise and shock I received a call from one of the Adcom members. She was informing that even though they cannot consider my admission to Full time MBA, I still hold a fair amount of chances for the weekend MBA program. She informed that if I am interested for this progam, I need to fill in some formalities and they can consider for Weekend MBA......I still have to undergo interview and all that process. But the good thing is I don't need to pay any application fee or refill in the entire application package. When I lost all my hope for class of 2012 MBA, this call definitely gave some hope for my dream. Until now I have no thought of applying for part time / weekend MBA, but this call made think......if weekend MBA from FUQUA is what I am eligible for , why not got for it. After all, at the end of the day it is prestigious "FUQUA MBA". Did anyone applied in R1 / R2 received such call? Also do anyone have any idea of how the week end MBA program is? My interviewer was very friendly, she is not an allumni, but she works for Duke adcom here, in Russia. She was very friendly, there were no strict questions, we were just chatting and frankly speaking everything turned out to be less horrible and challenging that I though it would be. At the end she gave me feedback. Said that she sees me as a very strong candidate and that she "will do everything possible" (that is in her hands) for me to get the positive decision. She said that I definitely according to her view have potential, however, she said that it is not very good that I applied in the third round (which is obvious, I guess). I explained that it is due to my problems at work, she put down my explanation and I guess she will include it in her report. So, it went somehow like this... I don't know what to think. On the one hand, she talked to me in a very friendly manner and even openly said she would help me, provided me with very positive feedback. Still, I found these talks about the third round rather discouraging... Well... the still accept people in the third round, don't they? I mean - it is harder, but it is not VERY impossible... I guess... somehow about 20% of the class they still need to accept, right? Or I am getting something wrong here? Did someone else have an interview? Or am I among the first ones? How did it go? She was very professional, took a lot of notes - several papers. It was not a relaxing chat - as many report, but rather a formal interview with questions such as: - walk me through ur resume -why mba - goals - why now - what 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses would your coworkers say about you - what will u bring to the school - why Fuqua, what will u bring to the school - leadership example - team situation No unexpected question, however I thought it would be more conversational kind of interview. Has anyone else interviewed? Please, report. I wonder, what are the cons and pros of interviewing with Adcom/ student/ alumni? Interviews with alumni are reported to be more relaxed, and more detailed questions about the work industry etc... Well, now the 2 week waiting time is left... Good luck to everyone! I just wish they'd be more transparent. Like telling us if they admitted anyone today off the waitlist or off of R3 and how full the class is already. Maybe they act like this so that you start to feel anger and resentment towards them and then it's not so hard if you are never admitted.
