Didn't believe me in BW forum I see  If you go a few pages back to my interview write up you'll see the exact same thing I posted then. In speaking with members of the Admissions Committee and students that assist in that process they're seeing an approx. increase of EA and R1 apps by about 30%. Now this was before the R1 deadline (less than a week) but this was their approximation, maybe year over year total to that point.

An R1 applicant here. Is there a way to know the status of my application i.e. whether it is being reviewed or not. Do they send you an email when they begin reviewing it. or is there any other place I can see the status. Maybe some EA applicants could answer.

From last year's discussions, it seemed that even though volume of applicants are up significantly, the quality of the applicants did not go up significantly.

Asimov, how can you make such a comparison?
Also, if it's true they are having a 30% spike in application, that means that acceptance rate will fall from 30% to 23%. Yet, it remains to be seen where all those apps come from: applicants backgrounds, regions, etc. Remember than, for instance, most of foreign applications come from India and China, and those countries applicants' acceptance rates are much smaller than Europepan ones. Also, this is true for industry... So, no real way to tell who's damaged by this, especially counting that Duke is one of the most committed schools to diversity!

Just generalizing what I gathered for last year's discussion regarding the rise is application last year. This year could be very different, who knows?!?

EA applicant here - sadly there wasn't much disclosure of where my application was in the process. It seems like between the time you receive the confirmation email that all your materials have been gathered and your notification date, nothing changes from the "submitted" status. That said, I did a student initiated interview. For R1 applicants interviewed by invite, I'm sure the interview notification appears at some point in the process. Ari123 wrote: Hi

She knew of graduate groups that rode together though, so it seems there's definitely a good population into cycling. I rode competitively as an UG, and I can guarantee you they'll be at least one doofball riding around campus in spandex over the next couple years. That said, I just found the pic of the jersey via google images at some promotions site. Didn't research whether or not its an official Duke replica, but already ordered one up just the same, haha.
