Class of 2009
Aaudetat,
Two questions:
1. I thought you got accepted last year for Class of 2010? Are you in your second year now?
2. Could you expand on what "Team Fuqua" means in practice? I know the emphasis is on "collaborative teamwork", but how does that show itself in the curriculum and/or leadership development?
Thanks!
RF
Yes, I am a second year. I've been around this board for almost 2 years now.
Team Fuqua is hard to describe; I just spent 3 days discussing it at orientation. The theory: a collaborative environment. Working in teams to be more effective and smarter. Working in teams means developing leadership skills.
We do a lot of team work in classes, but I imagine most schools are like that. I'd say on average that 1/3 to 2/3 of your grade is team-based.
Leadership development: students run the school. We don't talk about having a responsive administration; we talk about having a collaborative one. In addition to class-based team work (and each assignment is an opportunity for leadership development), there are lots of clubs, all of which offer more opportunities for leadership. FYs run Week in Cities, service projects, and club events like conferences, social outings, and career stuff.
And if you read a bit further up in the thread, I posted a few examples of the collaborative nature of the student body.
I hope this helps - culture is hard to nail.
