I am a deferred R1 applicant and have not yet got any news from MIT.
Has someone heard of anything? It's been almost 6 months of waiting...

Something tells me that given the quantity and quality of applicants to MIT this year, deferred effectively means "respectfully dinged." It was a good run . . .

impressive honors/awards/fellowships/scholarships: none
Harvard: R1 rejected w/o interview

mmmm so it seems that interview invites are pretty much over... So deferred candidates without interview should be expecting to be dinged? I didn't hear about invites in Asia or Latam...

There certainly hasn't been anything here or on BW. As someone pointed out, the deferral letter actually states that they wanted to re-evaluate us AFTER they're done evaluating the R2 candidates (but before April 5). I still expect to get bad news on a Friday at 7pm ET sooner or later.

For deferred applicants :
I don't know about you guys but to me this silence is worse than anything..... I am a little surprised to see the lack of feedback from Sloan which was the school I was the most enthusiastic for the way they care about applicants. (Mr Garcia coming oversea to meet prospective students, friendly students and organization for the ambassador program etc...). this is a point I would definitely advise them to work on for the coming years....
I still hope for an interview invite though...even though I know it is almost over with 10 days to go before the final day...
Do you think it is possible they will not meet the deadline? Seems like to Asian located persons have been interviewed...

I just noticed on the online acceptance system there is talks of a deposit waiver. Letting that money earn some interest would be nice. Has anyone received one of these?

To deferred applicants,
Has anyone updated information with Sloan? I retook GMAT recently, with a better score. I wonder whether I can update this with adcom. But they have specific policy: not to send additional info. I sent an email to ask Jen, no reply. What should I do? Advise, please.

My take on the admission process at MIT is that it is one of the most secretive, if not the most, among business schools. I suppose that is on purpose. They only have one deadline: the decision notification date.
You submit your application and then just forget about it for the next months. If they like you they will contact you.
For those who got in Round 1 and got scholarships, do they let you know the same day you got admitted? Or they informed you a few weeks later?

Same here, I was expecting to get some news today, it seems like last year they started calling the Friday before the deadline (was the deadline also Monday?). I don't know if they will do the same, seeing that this year they delayed the decision for some R1 people. Thoughts?
