Hello, quick question...

I applied for R1 and was wondering; do acceptances for R1 all come in at Dec 18 or is that just the last date? In other words, any chances of getting the acceptance earlier?

Would be curious how it was in the past...

Thanks!

Decisions are made on a rolling basis, meaning yes - you do receive them earlier. Not all decisions are sent out on the same date. They get released in small batches, gradually.

From the SOM blog... Looks like more than half of the invites are left.
Round 1 Interview Invitations by Bruce Things have been a bit quiet here at SOM recently.  Last week was exam period, so students were hunkered down in exam mode, and this week the second years are on break before the begin of Fall 2 on Monday.  The first years are currently on campus for their Managing Groups & Teams class, though, which means there’s some activity right now — just not as much as normal.  Things will be back in full swing come Monday. That’s not to say there hasn’t been activity here at SOM.  The Admissions Office has been full steam ahead since our first round deadline on October 8.  We’ve been extremely impressed by the quality of the applications — seemingly our best crop yet from initial indications — and are working hard to move forward with the review process as expeditiously as possible.  In fact, we sent out our first batch of interview invitations yesterday.  These invitations are just the first wave that we will send out; I estimate that they constitute somewhere shy of half the invitations we will ultimately send out this round.  So for those applicants who received an invitation yesterday — congratulations!  We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.  For applicants who did not receive an interview invitation yet — don’t fret.  We know waiting can be very difficult, but there are more invitations on the way.  We will continue to send out invitations in the coming weeks as we move through the review process.  So stay tuned and keep an eye out for our email. I’ll share more updates as I have them. Bruce

Bummer - shouldn't have told me that as I worry constantly.

Thanks for the update though, hoping to be in the remaining 50% here. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone. I'm applying to Yale Round 1 this year and submitted application one hour before the deadline. Right now, my account shows that they are still waiting for my TOEFL score.

Does it mean that my application package is considered incomplete until they receive the TOEFL score? And they won't start reviewing my package until they receive the official score? Anyone has the same experience?

I have the same question, only in my case, my GRE score has still not arrived.

Yale SOM receives GMAT and TOEFL scores online. Since YSOM online application is on a separate operating system, it takes some time for the admissions office to electronically match your score to your application. It may take a few weeks for your status page to reflect all of the materials that they've received.

If you are really worried, contact Michelle Vitali @ the admissions office - michelle.vitali@yale.edu

Hi! I'm also applying in R1. Does anyone have idea about how much of GRE score will be fine for Yale SOM? Since it's the first year for Yale SOM to accept GRE scores, I have no idea about it. As we know, top b-schools favor GMAT scores above 700. Is there any "bottom line" for GRE?

Hi, I applied round 1 (submitted right before the deadline) and received an interview invite yesterday (Oct 21).

Does anyone have an advice on the interview process? What to expect?

Best of luck to everyone.

Congrats on all your interview invites and best of luck to those of you guys still waiting. I know it sucks and uncertainty drains the life out of you but it's all worth it in the end no matter which school you choose to attend.

Good question -- yes, they did receive my GRE score. So it does appear that it was holding up their sending the invitation.

Does anyone have a feeling for what percentage of interviewees receive offers to attend?

Pook, this is from Yale's website

10. I just submitted an application for the first round. What are the next steps?
— Charlotte from Atlanta, Georgia

Once an applicant hits “Submit,” the application is processed by our system and prepared for review. When a file is complete (that is, all supplemental materials have been received and matched to the file), it’s sent out for review. Each file is reviewed independently by at least two members of the admissions committee. Most applications are then brought to the full admissions committee for a decision, although some are decided without full committee review. At any point during this process, an applicant can be invited to interview, which is a necessary step to being admitted to the program. We interview roughly 35-40% of our applicants and admit about the same percentage among those we interview. We notify applicants of their decision as soon as practicable, but at the very least by the posted decision notification deadline for the round (December 18 for this year’s first round).
