Guys, I have a question. I have never visited McCombs, and I was invited to interview. Do you think I could schedule my interview with an alumni in my city and still be seriously considered for admission???

Yes. It is quite common for applicants to schedule an interview with an alumni in your city.

Texas said that they are sensitive to rankings. They prefer to be 1 or 2 (told us this at diversity weekend) so if you ranked them there it prob won't matter. If you ranked them pretty low, they may consider the fact that you never visited.

Thanks for the input. I ranked them No.4. The problem is that I can't miss so many days at work and the tickets from Miami are crazy expensive. I have visited Cornell and Ross for interviews, and I will travel to UNC at the end of the month. I will make a decision later today.

For Haas, I'm gonna do an off-campus. I've visited the school before and since I'm an east coaster it is a bit far for me.

Yale just came through with an invite...I had lost hope there. What a day.

Congrats srnamargarita,....what a day indeed!! I fantasize of days where i can have multiple invites!

Where did you rank Yale if I may ask? Yeah, i've pretty much written Yale off, I ranked them 5/5. I've received 1 invite only (Ross) at the very beginning of the cyle (Jan.18),...so its been almost a month long cold spell for me. The schools i'm waiting on are Haas, Darden, Yale, and Wharton. And Wharton is a superreach. Not hearing from Darden is really agonizing though, of all the schools I thought i had my best shot w/ them and the clock is ticking, my chances are getting slimmer by the day.

From what I am hearing from the schools it is later this year, March 12th I believe.

I don't know when draft day is. But I do know that I was told that the Consortium won't be mailing out their decisions this year until March 19.

Hmm, Ross says, "All Ross Consortium applicants will be notified of their Ross admission, membership, and fellowship (or other Ross scholarship award) statuses by March 15th."

If draft day is on the 12th it makes sense that decisions will go out on the 15th since it happens shortly after.

I called Consortium and asked them last week what day the draft was, they wouldn't tell me. Looks like last year it was March 1st and a ton of schools informed people if they had awarded them a Consortium fellowship during the first week of March even though the Consortium letters were not mailed out until later in March.

grrrr not what I wanted to hear because I ranked McCombs 3rd and never got around to visiting Austin (did a skype interview). I was going back and forth on whether to put them 2nd or 3rd for weeks too  guess I'll just have to see exactly how sensitive they are when admission's decisions are released next week. At least my interview seemed to go really well.

Admissions may not be as big of an issue, but it may affect the fellowship opportunity with them. I went back and forth also and ended up ranking them 3rd. They told our group that enough people ranked them first that they did not give fellowships to anyone who ranked them less than second often.

Whether that point was exaggerated by Texas or not, I'm not sure.

I'm very curious to see where everyone gets their Consortium fellowship (assuming and hoping we all do get one of course :-D ) in light of the rankings and prior scholarship info.

For example, I've got a significant scholarship from Tepper, my #2. And Olin, which is my #3, gave me no money, despite its reputation for giving out lots of scholarship money. Has Tepper already given me the best they will? Is Olin waiting for the draft, or did I really strike out?

With all the data points we have this year, this may be our best chance yet to find some patterns in all of this.

Haas is just toying w/ me!!

I open my email after seeing the mail logo on my phone,..and I see I have an email from Haas,..I'm about to shed tears of joy when I realize it's just an informational email about the Toigo Pre MBA finance event. Talk about a gut punch.

First off...shout out to the 305!!

I don't know what ur financial situation is, but I don't think u should let a couple hundred dollars stand in the way of making the best impression that you can. In the long run we're talking about 100k in free money. Personally I've had to take a vacation week to knock out 4 interviews back to back, and I'm flying from Florida to the North east. I don't know if that will translate into a bunch of admits, but I won't let "lack of interest" be the reason that I don't get in.
