I would like to adress the question to current Tuck students.

How generous is Tuck in scholarships? What amount of scholarship and other financial aid did you (or someone whom you know) receive from Tuck?

thanks in advance.

Even I'd like to know the same :)

Also Im not able to view any of the comparative data in the first post even though I've added Tuck to my schools! Some1 please help :)

From what I see it is not customary here to talk about scholarship money. Tuck attracts very impressive but humble people! Based on the statistics, 15% of Tuckies receive merit scholarship. I don't know the numbers for other types of financial aid though.

Eestiniu, are you saying that inquiring about the amount of scholarship/fellowship money that is awarded by Tuck is somehow an indication of ones humility, or lack thereof? I am confused here. It is possible that I may have misinterpreted your response to their questions as this has been quite a long day for me.

By no means inquiring is an indication of humility. I apologize if it sounded wrong on my behalf. What I was trying to say is that noone really talks about it here or at least I haven't come across anyone who would talk about the $ amount they have received from school.

RHB is exactly right. The school does a great job at making sure that if you are accepted you can attend. If you can afford the application fee, apply and hope for the best.

If you were offered scholarship money, did Tuck notify you about that when admitting you, or at a later time?

This is a fairly generic que, but thought I would ask it nevertheless... Any idea how does Tuck views reapplicants?

I had applied last year. It was the crappiest of all apps since it was the very first one and in hindsight, one that was done quite thoughtlessly..I know for sure that this year's app will be far better, cohesive and impressive than last year's, but I wanted to have a feel regarding how Tuck really evaluates reapplicants...Will they be looking at anything in particular in a reapplicant or will a reapplicant be treated almost on par with an applicant..In particular, I was dinged w/o an interview, so obviously they didn't consider me good enough even for an interview / waitlist and hence the concern...

Any suggestions will be helpful!

I have some thoughts on this. Firstly I think that Tuck is pretty open and receptive to re-applicants, what better way to show love for a school than to apply twice. Having said that, did you receive any feedback from Tuck with your initial rejection? Try to find out if your overall application was poor or if you were rejected for some specific reason. Clarification on this would help you to figure out how best to position this years' app. Secondly, what round did you apply in last year. If you applied in April it will be hard to show how in four months you have grown and become someone who they will admit this year, if you applied in the earlier rounds you should be ok.

I think that re applicants have some advantages that you should play on, as I mentioned before it's easy to show how serious you are about attending, but also you should have had (and taken) many more opportunities to interact with the school and it's students, that should help you to craft a really targeted essay as to why you want Tuck and how you will fit in here. You've also had more experience of the application process than most of your co applicants so your whole app should be more polished.

I think I'm right in saying that Tuck has a mandatory essay question for re applicants, and it really is here where you'll want to focus most of your energy, how you've grown into someone that the Tuck community will benefit from including is key. You'll have to show new achievements, personal and professional growth and be able to back these up and articulate them in both the essay and the interview.

Finally, be yourself. I know that's corny but honestly if you don't fit in at the school you attend you could have a really poor experience. But, if you fit in at Tuck and get onto the program you'll be able to flourish and have a wonderful time.

Hope this helps,

RHB

Thanks for your thoughts...a lot of pertinent points in there...

I actually went lazy on Tuck after getting dinged. I didn't think that I would reapply to Tuck but since the past couple of months, I have again started gravitating back towards Tuck...I'm in the process of reaching out to the school for feedback on last year's app and also getting in touch with some students..Hopefully something good materializes from the feedback aspect..

Last year I applied in the October round (R1) but this year, I'm planning to apply only in R2 so that gives me a bit over a year to show growth...There has been a lot of personal & professional growth within this calendar year itself, but as you rightly pointed out, the key is going to be to articulate it properly..

Thanks again! Will keep reaching out to you for help!! :)

Tuck understands the importance of community and the school does a great job at supporting students interested in nonprofit. Don't worry about nonprofit as a goal for your essays.

hi,

i'm preparing to submit my app either in EA or Nov round depending on my recos' availability and i would greatly appreciate if anyone can answer some of my queries:

1. for international applicants, is it acceptable not make the deadline for the applicant-initiated interviews?

2. does anyone know the statistics for acceptances in the EA round compared to Nov and Jan rounds?

i'm very keen on Tuck becoz I believe that the student body is skewed towards the older folks (aged >30), is this the case?

many thanks!

As per my interaction with one of the student reps from Tuck the majority of the current class is between 26 and 30 but there are around 20% over the age of 30. I myself am 32 and hence I asked them this specific question about age.

Hope that helps.

1. Can't speak to that since I'm not an international student. However, what's the alternative? Are you saying you are not going to make it all. Once the deadline is passed then an interview request can be sent.

2. EA has the highest acceptance rate but I'm not sure on the exact figures

3. The average age is about 28, almost on par with most of the other schools. As with any school, Tuck wants older applicants to clearly articulate the need for an MBA. Well, that's for everyone at any school I guess.

Does anyone know, how far in advance does Tuck open interview slots ?

I want to schedule my interview in first week of Oct but its not open yet, so was wondering when should I expect them to be open.

Thanks
