Re: Calling all Female MBA Applicants [#permalink]

A very interesting observation from Alex at MBA Apply: discussion-app-volume-up-or-down-this-year-84203.html#p636317 It looks like the female applicant pool is larger and more competitive this year. On another note, one of the advantages that I have seen in some applicants has been the ability to take feedback. The essays are the toughest part in apps and I have been both a reviewee and a reviewer. I ended up asking several people (alumnae, friends, all free, not paid reviewers), very busy people, for their time in seeing my essays and it was important to get as much out of their opinion in the short time as possible. Explaining or justifying myself to reviewers was pointless, and their feedback made me start from scratch on many of my essays, only a week or two before deadlines. As a result, however, I think my essays got far better and subsequent reviewers agreed. Feedback is priceless. Since there is no back and forth with the adcom between essay submission and interview invites, make sure have an objective second pair of eyes to look for holes you missed in the hectic writing process.

Great threat. Thanks for starting. Would love to see more women in business. Please add me to the list too though I'm aiming more for European schools (at least in R1) so more I am hoping to be class 2011 (one year only starting fall 2010)

I'm also rooting for all the ladies! To update on me, I did my interview at Fuqua on campus with a second year back in September and submitted my application that month too. I've since gone complete. Since I'm only applying there EA for now, I'm playing the waiting game until late November! If I get rejected/waitlisted in late November then I'll regroup and apply to my next round of schools for their second rounds. Good luck to all!

Hi, ladies! I feel like your grandma showing up at the party, but I am an '09 Fuqua grad and still kicking around GMATClub from time to time. I'm working in general management in consumer banking. I was very active in AWIB (association of women in business) at Fuqua and am hoping to head to the Weekend for Women, which I worked on both years of school.
Welcome to the MBA Chase, and I look forward to seeing you all around the 'Club. Go get 'em!

What's the word on organizing a chat for all female applicants? Should we set something up?
