How long is the window for interviews at HBS, i.e., how many weeks can you schedule an interview over?

Thanks!

Good luck with those invites R2! Word to the wise: if you get an invite make sure to schedule your interview ASAP. I noticed the hub city slots filled up pretty quickly last round.

Hey R1 admits: Did you guys join the Facebook group? It would be fun to start putting faces (and well, names) to the names.

Adding myself to the R2 applicants this year. No expectations from this app though :-D

Cheers!

Just got to hear this from BW

"Heard last night from a friend who is a second year at HBS. Apparently in a recent address to the school community, the Dean said that R2 apps are actually down (reportedly 20%) largely due to financing concerns for international students. Credible source, but still having trouble believing this. "

And for some reason I believe, its true...what do you guys think ?

Are the applications from international students or the overall applications down by 20%? If overall application are down by 20% solely because of decreasing international applications, it means those international applications dropped very significantly...

Re: Calling all HBS Fall 2009 Applicants [#permalink]
interesting post by Sandy over on the BW forums:

HBS APPLICATION NUMBERS ROUND ONE AND TWO.

~500 ACCEPTS ROUND ONE.

hmmmmmmmmmm, one of our special agents planted a transmitter in the right heel of HRH'S (AKA Dee Leopold) Ferragamo loafers a while back, which turned out to be a small mistake, since unbeknownst to us, she leans on right heel whenever she says something important, sorta like a sniper leaning back getting ready to fire, which alas, interferes w. transmission.

over the past coupla weeks, HRH has been telling lots of peeps, including admitted students, current students, and even, if we can hear between the static correctly, VISITING STUDENTS, and alums some basic data about admissions this year.

The upshot of which is,

1. APPS FIRST ROUND WERE UP 20-25 PERCENT [WE HEAR THAT IN LOTS OF BROADCASTS]

2. APPS 2ND ROUND WERE EITHER FLAT, OR UP 5-10 PERCENT (OR MAYBE DOWN). WE ARE BETTING UP 5-10 PERCENT.

3. NUMBER OF KIDS ADMITTED ROUND ONE = 500 (+ OR minus 10, more shoe problems). THAT number is impt. b.c. it seems higher than usual (~450) and could mean bad news for WLers. The 500 admit number for r1 confirms that r1 apps were up 20-25 percent and r2 was flat or up a bit. R1 one app. quality is usually higher than r2 (altho more apps usually received in r2, acceptance rate is higher in r1, fr. a stronger pool).

NOTE: By the time hbs makes final round one decisions, they already know a good deal about round two (number of apps, fr. where, average gmat, gpa, blah, blah) and cert. take that into consideration in figuring out where the bar is for r1. If that is the case, and they only plan on taking 400 kids fr. r2, well, then, things are even fr. WL angle. SOooooooooo, go figure.

fyi, HBS usually admits 1000 kids to get a final class of ~900. round 3 admits (including some number, usually ~20, of college seniors admitted TWO YEARD ago who deferred) is ~100.

Just curious, out of the R1 admits how many are going to the Admitted Students Weekend and how many know if they will be matriculating?

I'm going to the weekend and will be matriculating.

I'm attending ASW-- but am not sure if I'll be matriculating yet. Heard the weekend's pretty busy!

I'll be at admit weekend! I bought my flights already!

At this point HBS is my only admit (not that I'm complaining), so it's looking likely I'll be matriculating. I'm still waiting on MIT and Haas, both of which I love also. I chose each school I applied to for different reasons, but it's hard to turn down an HBS offer.

CPG, Mikus, and other admits...Are you in the Facebook group yet? PM me if you want to do the Facebook thing :)

Sounds like someone should kick off the "Admitted to HBS Class of 2011" thread. I would do the honors but would look like a total jackass if I don't get the R2 admit :P
