What was the time mentioned on the email for all those who received the interview invite ? I mean were they all released at one go ?

Timestamp was right around 12:05pm EST, and my understanding is that yes, they were all sent out in one batch (according to someone on the BW forums who called the admissions office and confirmed the 750 invites have been sent). Either way I would stay tuned to Dee's blog for an update sometime today or tomorrow hopefully.

From the R1 Interview post on the HBS Director's Blog:

Round One Interview Invitations
Date: November 11, 2008

Today we sent out about 750 invitations to interview. I think we will ultimately send around 850 by the notification date, January 21.

I can't predict when this additional 100 invitations will go out nor to whom. It is possible that candidates invited in the next few weeks will not have extensive options to interview in hub cities; we will make every effort to work with them to schedule an interview which is convenient.

The Admissions Board continues to review written applications and discuss cases until the January notification date.

I also anticipate that around 100 Round One candidates who have not been interviewed will be invited to accept a place on the wait list in January. As their cases are further considered, they may be invited to interview.

We are trying to be as transparent as possible about this anxiety-producing process. I hope I am clear in my continued message that this is a "selection" process designed to bring a talented and diverse mix of students into the classroom. There are no hard and fast rules and there are many more qualified candidates than we have capacity to admit.

What did she say that made it clear that more invites would go out?

From her blog (http://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/blog.html):

Shortly afterward, I'll update you here as to how many invitations have been issued and how many we expect will go out between February 10 and the April 2 notification date.

Also sset09 -- they will not send you a ding I believe until the official release date, April 2nd.

from Dee's blog

Hello to Round Two Applicants

Date: February 09, 2009
Today we are sending emails to about 750 applicants inviting them to interview. Detailed information will be included in the email. I think there will be between 50 and 100 additional invitations sent between now and April 2. These will be sent out as files are reviewed - not on a designated day or days.

As I've said before, I know that the business school application experience is anxiety-producing. We are trying hard to minimize anxiety and stress while preserving a time-intensive selection process in which the applications you invested so much in are carefully reviewed by multiple members of the Admissions Board.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

i didnt get the email.. little hope now.. :(

There are several references on the BW forums to people who have received interview invites after a good chunk of them have already been sent out. These people were still admitted! I wouldn't give up hope - there is still a chance.

I got an invite today and really wasn't expecting it given how competitive it it is this year.

quick stats:
23, Asian-American male.
GMAT: 720 (50q, 38v, 6.0 awa
GPA: 3.95 in econ from large state schools. tons of math, stats, and science classes, too.
WE: 2 years with Teach for America. Significant results in first year alone, currently in second year.

congrats to everyone who got an invite and good luck to everyone-- as has been mentioned above, still a lot of invites to go out.

I have a few questions about the interview:

Is there any difference between a hub interview and an on campus interview, in terms of the interview itself?

Also, are these interviews blind or will the interviewer have viewed the application?

Thanks

As far as I know, there is no real difference in the interviews.

The interviews are definitely NOT blind.

are all invites for HBS R2 sent out? Will they be sending out more invites or is it safe to assume
that if you haven't got an invite so far you want get it anymore?

most of r2 invites are out. 50~100 may still be released. if you haven't gotten one, chances are not looking good... (as is the case with me)

Good luck to all currently waiting, and apologies if this has already been covered previously...

How many places are available for the 750 HBS R2 interviewees? And what is the perceived relative importance of the interview (i.e. is it 'make-or-break' or just another piece of information to sit alongside the rest of your case file)

Many thanks, and best of luck to all those still waiting.
