Hi there,
I have a boy, 16 months old, my wife is working part time and finishing her studies, and I'm preparing for GMAT. We live far from any relative.
A couple of months ago our boy would sleep until 8 or 9 in the morning. That allowed us to study in the morning from 5 or 6 until he woke up. I leave for work at 8, my wife later.
He would also sleep 3 hours from 12 to 3pm, or from 1pm to 4pm, thus allowing my wife to continue studying at that time. In the evening, I would play with him so my wife could rest, and sometimes she would play with him so I could do some chores.
But since last week he is waking up at 6!!!! so our best time to study disappeared. And there is no way to put him back to sleep. And he is going to sleep one hour later than before, around 10pm. By that time we are tired and can't study well. I guess the more he grows, the less he sleeps. He is getting bigger, heavier, and drains all our energy!
I become really worried that I would not make it in time preparing well for the GMAT. My wife is also worried about her studies. I don't want to postpone the MBA too much in the future because I'm getting old.
How do you guys deal with this issue? Do you take your kids to child care? Do you pay someone to baby sit? Do you have a relative to care for the children? If not, how do you organize yourself?
How is it with those of you already in B-school? Is it hard? Any experience/advice that you would like to share?
