I just declined my Ross offer in order to attend Haas. I loved both schools, but the 1/2 tuition at Haas was the deciding factor. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist, I hope one of you gets my spot!

w103psp wrote: I see you (may have) applied to Duke and Kellog too. What made you pick Ross over the other 2? w103psp - I chose Michigan over Duke because I am from Michigan, and have lived here for most of my life. I analyzed all the options, and found Duke and Michigan to be almost completely equal in all regards. Michigan had a few aspects I liked a little more (entrepreneurship program, internal VC funds, pre-term trip, MAP project), but Duke had a lot of programs I liked as well. Both campuses are beautiful, although Duke probably has the weather edge. I didn't get into Kellogg; it was my top choice, so if I had gotten in, I would have gone.

Ross was just featured in the Manahattan GMAT newsletter for anyone that hasn't seen it. It was pretty helpful I thought. There are 2 parts, though I only see part 1 on their website. http://www.manhattangmat.com/gmatters.cfm

I'll jump on the bandwagon and offer myself up for advice and guidance. Also, if you're coming through Ann Arbor, I'm happy to chat. My experiences would be particularly relevant to those who are younger, considering the Erb Institute, and coming from non-traditional backgrounds. Let me know what I can do to help.
Peace.

How ya liking it? and what's with the name change? EDIT: GREAT DELI though, it's almost worth the trip. If I do get another interview this time, I'm gonna interview locally.

I'm not going to be able to fit my ECs into essays 1-4 (without really stretching). I'm guessing others are/will have this problem as well. Is it better to (1) Use the "Is there anything else we should know about you" essay or (2) Just let it be and let them reside in the application portion?
I would go with #2, but the text fields for specifying the activities in the application are sooo small. When I applied last year, I didn't see a good place for me to fit in my ECs and it was an important area I wanted to emphasize. I put it in #1. Of course I can't say what impact it had or didn't have on my application, but I did end up with a partial scholarship to Ross .

I will upload my alternative career essay to the essay vault or can post it in this thread not sure about the rules. Also not sure if I have access to the essay vault. Anyway I wrote about pursing a career as a fly fishing guide so anything is game.

GoRoss wrote: Hey This is my first post on the forum. I got a Super Interview Saturday Invite yesterday. Anyone knows what kind of interview to expect? Is it formal or friendlier? I am an Indian currently in US. I did not have a Super Saturday interview, but many of my classmates have said they did. It is certainly a sell weekend, and they treat you quite well. All my classmates who have mentioned it have said that it played a really large role in their decision to come to Ross. With regards to the interview, I can't imagine it is significantly different than a regular one. My interview was friendly, and conversational. I interviewed with an MBA2, and she was very nice. Know your resume well, and be prepared for situational questions (tell me about a team experience, tell me about a time you failed, etc). Enjoy your experience; make sure you go out in the evening and meet some MBAs (feel free to PM me if you want to chat or go out that evening, although I am sure they have plenty planned). Ross is a really amazing place, and I am sure, regardless of your final choice, you will enjoy the weekend.

Any thoughts on the if there is a reason to go to A2 again? Is it a bad sign if its not a Super Saturday interview?? I wish I were super ultra-cool too... u know, i am not sure about the super ultra-cool thing. I live in Michigan and perhaps they have arranged this event to sell and asked the people who can take an on-campus interview to come down. I dont think there is much to read in it.

As you're considering what makes Ross unique, I wanted to let you know about the Social Venture Fund, a new addition to the other two student-run venture capital funds on campus (Wolverine Venture Fund and Frankel Commercialization Fund). The SvF just launched and will invest in socially-driven for-profit enterprises. The SvF wants to demonstrate that mission-driven companies can both be profitable and provide transformative solutions to societal needs. The goal of SvF is to create a marketplace for social impact investing and educate the next generation of business leaders to invest in and manage innovative, profitable, and sustainable enterprises. The SvF is the only student-run fund of its kind though there are other student-run funds that invest in non-profits or provide microfinancing. All 3 funds at Ross count as course credit and accept applicants at the beginning of the year and sometimes mid-year. You can read about the fund here - http://www.zli.bus.umich.edu/vc_pe/svf_overview.asp. If you have more questions about SvF, feel free to PM me.

I lived in the bay area prior to coming to Ross. In my experience, the bay area is one of the most popular destinations for Ross grads and there are a ton of folks who end up on the west every year. If you get admitted, you can see for yourself by getting in touch with the alumni association there. Also,I just checked our alumni database and can tell you that there are about 1000 MBA alumni in the bay area. Obviously this doesnt include the 10 or so people who end up in amazon every year. So, I dont think Michigan would be a bad choice for anyone interested in tech on the west coast. I suggest you also get in touch with the High Tech club at Ross. 2012dreams wrote: can any Ross students speak about the strength of the alumni network 1) in tech 2) on the west coast (bay area) in particular?
