Matt Congrats on getting another admit. I'll be visiting Chicago a lot while I'm at Ross, so I'll see you at Booth sometime. Cheers

Congrats Matt and thank you I know Ross has been admitting people off the waitlist but I've accepted that I'm going to get rejected soon enough...

Cheers Sounds good Av. Let me know when you're in town. I'll likely be in Ann Arbor for a few football games, so hopefully I'll see you there!

shaselai wrote: suggestions for Round for someone with low gpa (2.92)? right now i am planning to be R2... I know a number of people who successfully applied to top schools with relatively lower GPA's. Strong GMAT (especially on the quant section) and work experience will help you overcome undergrad grades. Not sure what your major was, but I'm sure admissions councils understand certain areas of study at specific institutions are more difficult than others.

There are a few ways to mitigate a low gpa. I want to say that Adcom considers the difficulty of major and school but I am really not sure if they do. But your work experience is important and a high GMAT score. Also do something that will help you stand out, like a community service/charity project. Alternatively you can try to build a supplemental transcript by taking some post-bach summer quantitative courses or something and getting A's in it. I Hope this helps.
I applied to all my schools with a lower than average gpa in electrical engineering.

Hope you all are enjoying the summer! I'm not sure how many of you are still waiting, but Soojin released this today - http://rossblogs.typepad.com/admissions ... pdate.htmlThere's some good info for the 2012 applicants in there too.

I applied to all my schools with a lower than average gpa in electrical engineering. I have a low GPA from a large public school, and from a fairly easy major as well, so for me, there was no excuse for the grades. I mentioned that in my apps and tried to show how I changed since college. I think what helped was scoring well on the GMAT, and taking a quantitative course (calculus) over the summer and adding that grade to the application.
