I think if you're really interested in General Management, you should research specific industries rather than group GM as a whole. It's almost like the catch all bucket. (This is true for most other schools too).

Wow, that is THE ANSWER! Thanks, appreciated! For sure, the sponsorship matter is not school-dependant. As for my GM choice, I consider either industrial (GE, Samsung) or FMCG conglomerates.

Hi everyone,
I will be applying to Ross in R1 and thinking about attending either VIP (visit in person) or Ross Preview Day. Which one do you think is more informative and/or useful? I understand that sitting in the class is not one of the activities during Ross Preview Day, am I correct? Thanks.

Sorry for the taking so long to reply, I wanted to check on the two activities before I respond.

The Preview Day is intended to be a more extensive overview of Ross. The difference are:

VIP:
- Student Panel
- Building Tour
- Classroom Session (Mon-Thurs)
- Lunch with MBA Students

Preview Day
- Student Panel
- Building Tour
- Lunch with MBA Students
- Application Session with Admission Officer
- Session with Office of Career Development
- Opportunity to meet students and staff from the various instates and centers

I hope this helps

Thank you, it does help. I will be attending Preview Day on 23rd.(but I must say GoWings :) )

Applied for R1. Ross is a great school. It shows from the project they did here on GMATclub when students helped us with our essays. Furthermore, I contact 2 current students and BOTH rushed to help me with info and tips. Ross truly an MBA for team work!

If anyone needs any info on the essays I am happy to help. We can cross-reference and do interview prep :)

Hey re-applicant here. WL'ed last year. Would love to share/brainstorm re-application approach for this year with other re-applicants. Few key points I am trying to get my arms around are:

1. R1 vs. R2.
2. Can I get some feedback from ad com?
3. All essays or some essays or just Cover letter/resume

Re-applicant too. Count me in for R1. I went to a Ross session here in London last week, and they said a CV/cover letter is fine. But if you feel you could provide additional information with any of the essay go for it.

I will probably submit my goals essay, just reiterate

"Essay 1: Introduce yourself to your Ross classmates" 100 words

During the end of the essay, are we expected to show courtesy? for example, saying things like "its great meeting you all" or "hope to have a super 2 years together" etc etc?

For those applying Round 1--

Soonjin posted on her blog yesterday that there will be 2 batches for interview invites-- 10/24 and 11/14. She says the batch you are invited in doesn't matter, they just can't review ALL the applications by 10/24.

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks |||

100 words is too little space to include courtesies n all anyways. I'd rather do it during my actual introduction to Ross classmates lol :D

No worries!

By the way, I don't know if you noticed the second part of my post, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that I had problems with the file uploads last night. If you are planning on submitting on Monday, Oct. 10th, I recommend that you give yourself some lead time so that you have some cushioning in case this happens to you as well. Good luck!

I did notice it. Actually, I've shifted my Ross app to R2 as the submission date is v close to Chicago's. However, Ross remains one of top choices and I don't want to hurry in on this one. But thanks for sharing you experience!

Hi Guys,

R1 applicant here. Just a quick question for current students: How important is to drop names in the application (of alumni and current students that you have interacted with). I want to focus on the quality of the interaction rather than wasting words on names/year of graduation etc.

Cheers
