philly101 what round did you apply in?
Hey ebookworm,
The deadline for R2 was January 15th but I actually didn't submit my application until January 17th, so while technically it should be considered in R3 it looks like it is being considered in R2. To simplify, my timeline is as follows:
-Submitted Application: January 17th, 2015 (R2 deadline was January 15th)
-Received general "Application Received" email: January 20th, 2015
-Received email with instructions to create at GT Account (for status checking): January 21st, 2015
-Received interview invitation email from Paula Wilson on January 24th, 2015
-She emailed me a list of available interview slots that ranged from January 29th-February 13th
-There were only about 15 slots I could chose from
-None of my letters of recommendation had been submitted yet when I received the invite/or official test scores
-Scheduled interview with Paula (dir. of admissions) and Jim (career dev.) for February 6th, 2015
-Visited a class a few days later to better learn about the program and have some interview talking points
I am still waiting on one letter to be submitted which should be done by Friday. Will update you guys on how the interview process goes.
A student ambassador I met with emailed me some advice for interview prep which I will post:
"I would suggest treating it like a professional job interview. They are assessing not only whether you are a good fit for the program but employable at the highest levels. That means bring extra copies of the resume (Paula asked me for a copy - I am sure she could have printed one but I imagine she was assessing my preparedness), dress top notch, arrive early, smile a lot, etc - show them how awesome you would be not just for them but for the companies you will interview with.
Second, a thing that distinguishes an MBA from a non-MBA is a higher level of "EQ" and communication. Whatever question/situation you encounter, remember that they want to see that you are a team player and have leadership potential through your interactions with others. Be likable and always remember to put a "team" flavor in any question/situation you encounter. "
