It's best you ask the admissions office about this. Speculation by forum members will not help your cause.

Hi guys,

I actually had the same question (I wasn't too sure about one of my recs) and called the admissions office a couple of days ago. They said there's a chance that late recommendations might not get added to your file if submitted late, so your application would be evaluated with 1/2 recs. It's best to take shekmba's advice and call them.

I recently took part in a conference call (on Ocotber the 4th) on admission processes and the Stanford representative said that if a recommendation comes in late what they do is they review the candidate with the rest of the materials that are attached to the file online (e.g if you have one recommendation that came in late you'll be probably reviewed with two recommendations on your file instead of three). She also said that it often happens that to send a recommendation 1-2 days after the deadline is still ok.

Has the status on the online app changed for anyone? Or has anyone received some kind of confirmation email stating that the application is under review?

I find in general that the communication from the Stanford admissions office is not at par with other schools. I do know they respond very well to email; I just wish they were a bit more transparent about the process.

Does anyone know when does Stanford start to send out interview invites for R1 applications? Do they send invites in bulk or as one-offs as they read the applications?

Found this on GSB website in relation with the above question. Hope this helps everyone.
"The timing of your interview invitation reflects only the order in which your application was reviewed in the Admissions Committee. Interview invitations are extended from about a week after the round's deadline until about a week before the round's notification date, because it takes the Admissions Committee that entire period to review all applications thoroughly"

Ditto. I wish Stanford had a narrower window for sending out interview invites - it would save applicants a lot of heartache.
