does the business school like to be known as "Texas", "McCombs", or "Texas McCombs"?

I referred to them as McCombs throughout my app/essays.

For example: The University of Texas is best known for having the #3 football team in the nation and the McCombs MBA. I met Sam Acho while attending MBA Friday at McCombs. I hate waiting, when will McCombs' decisions be sent out? I wish McCombs would decide already so I can quit my job if I get accepted. etc...

haha, kudos for that.

But I would have to say that "The University of Texas is renowned for its reputation in sports ..."

#3 is College Hoops as well.

I hate waiting also. I think last year decisions started going out around December 10th or so. So hopefully two more weeks or so for the folks who applied early.

Hi hookemhorns86, "britguy" submitted his application on the 3rd, and haven't updated this thread, so you are not alone. You have great GMAT score, I'm sure you have equally great GPA as well. Keep in mind that McCombs is one of the schools that looks more heavily on WE. McCombs used to require a minimum of 2 years WE before they will even consider your application. Anyways, I wish you luck on your MBA journey at McCombs and at other schools. If McCombs is your top choice, and things doesn't work out, I suggest talking with the AdCom about your weakness. Some schools will give feedback during the summer.

This is correct - still no invite for me. :(

As I posted earlier, my transcripts arrived a day late, officially designating me as an unacceptable moron and putting my application right to the bottom of the pile. I'm not holding my breath now, because I know there are plenty of talented guys already interviewed, but I do feel competitive for this school with 4.4 GPA, 730 GMAT and 4 years WE in energy, good international exposure.

Not sure if this helps, but all the best anyway.

Thank you for the encouraging words.. if I don't hear in the next 10 days, it's over for me. There is no thread for Rice, but I interviewed with them last Wednesday..

hookemhorns86, may I ask what's your post-MBA goal? The reason I'm asking is because Rice is a regional school, it has good reputation in Texas. It's a good choice if you would like to work in the energy industry, but it doesn't carry as much weight elsewhere. In my opinion it would be better to try again next year for CBS, YSOM, or McCombs, when you have more WE, because I hope the economy will have picked up by then and the applicant pool will be smaller.

asimov, I know what you mean.. but I want to live in houston, and Rice has an excellent reputation here. I want to work in the energy trading industry and some of the courses offered at Rice like Energy Derivatives are really helpful to get my foot in that career path.

I know my work exp is really less and that is what would probably hurt me.. but let's hope for the best!
