The on-campus interview happens... well...on campus. And it's usually conducted by an officer of Ad-Com or a second year student.
The hub interviews happen in certain major cities around the world. They are usually conducted by officers of Ad-Com or in certain cases, alumni. You are unlikely to find 2nd years at these interviews.

Dude, if I get an invite, I will crawl on my hands and knees to get there, no matter where in the world it is held.

I just realized I never added my name here.
I succumbed to the Harvard charm and am applying R2. Decided when I found myself writing an essay even before I had decided to apply. I like short essays

Is it any real difference between applying in R1 and R2? Some of my friends applying to top school in R2, including Harvard, and got dinged everywhere. In the following years, they applying in R1 and got interviewed. Half of them accepted at their 1st choice.
Just curious.

Quick question:
Am I the only person who routinely logs into ApplyYourself even though I should be waiting for an email?

1. KK signs into GMail.
2. KK sees a mail from admissions@mba.com
3. KK remembers that the HBS interview invites start going out today
4. KK is suddenly extremely excited
5. KK opens the mail.
6. Mail says, "Thank you for your interest in the HBS program. Please be advised......"" and basically answers a question that KK had asked.
This app process is really getting to me. You guys have no idea what this is doing to my heart rate... Hey!! Smilies work!!!! Smilies work!!! Woohoooo!

This is what the HBS admission blog had to say:
HBS Admissions blog wrote: today we sent out our first batch of invitations. There is not a regular schedule for sending these out — several days may go by before we send another group. It's also worth repeating that there is no plan or pattern to the sequence of invitations.
Well, they say they have sent out their first set of invitations. God only knows how may of these sets they have.

Every time I read about an interview invite in the BW forums, I feel my chances of an interview are gone. It sends me chills down my spine and makes my hair stand up.
Anyone else on pins and needles?

My dorm is literally 10ft away from the Admissions office. Would you guys like me to walk over and ask?

Not only that, you should just go over and tell them to save some of their time and admit all us GMATclubbers, because we're really, really cool, and all ridiculously good looking.

Me too. Everytime I think about a school, I manage to find a reason to not go there. So in the end, I decided to do what every self-respecting Indian does - apply to Harvard. Count me in for R2. That completes my portfolio for R2 - Harvard and Stanford .. easy as that! I am planning to mention this in my application, "Not afraid to take risk. For example, only applied to 4 schools, and three of them were H/S/W."
ps. All the best to the R1ers. Succeed and then guide R2ers.

I am also actively looking at Harvard. As for the risk factor, I am far better than what you are. I applied only to Stanford in R1.
