Hi guys. I was waitlisted in early February (I applied R1) and just withdrew my application. Hope that takes the competition out of the pool. Good luck everyone

Got accepted to Stern with good $$, so now I will most likely W/D from Johnson. It sucked being on WL from R1 at Johnson especially seeing almost no Indians getting in. Most probably a bunch of guys would see themselves getting in after R3/R4. I am having this coversation with them (in my dreams), where I am saying - "No WLs for you Mr Johnson, I Ding you" !

Here is a bit from the mail - "If you were waitlisted without an interview you showed potential as an applicant, but may have been weaker in one or two areas. By being put on the waitlist we are giving you a little more time to strengthen your application. We will contact candidates who have been waitlisted without an interview if we would like to set up an interview with them." I'm not sure what it means for candidates who have had their interviews though but just quoting from the mail I received.

thunder123 wrote: What do you think are my odds because i was already interviewed?? The unfortunate reality of the wait list is that you're at the mercy of yield. As deposit deadlines pass, if a less than anticipated number of admits enroll, then they'll go to the wait list. The second phase of the wait list is "The Summer Melt" this is when people bail on the schools they put deposits on for whatever reason: personal, huge promotion at work that makes B-school not so attractive, couldn't decide by original deadline so he/she put down multiple deposits finally chooses one, accepted off of another school's WL...all of these leave gaps in a school's class that will be filled by candidates still active on the WL. So in short, your "odds" can't really be calculated - too many variables.

"Southern Methodist’s Cox School of Business admitted three of its 34 wait-listed applicants last fall, Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management offered admission to 29 of the 94 on its list, and Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management let in 40 of 470 wait-listed applicants. Harvard Business School declined to share the total number of applicants who were on the original list, but reported that it ultimately offered admission to 84 of the wait-listed. Similarly, Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business offered that it admitted 16 percent of those on its list." http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-03-01/how-to-navigate-the-dreaded-mba-waitlistFor those who are curious about hard numbers of the waitlist! I'd been monitoring the progress on the site for a while now. It's only fair to give back. I was accepted off the waitlist this Friday for the AMBA program. Hope that helps. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back Posted from my mobile device

I agree! We would have to dig the last year's threads to see how soon from the next round deadlines can one expect movement on the waitlist. As of now, the waitlist does not seem too big though.

As of now, the waitlist does not seem too big though. I cannot help but wonder if they had to waitlist more people than they would have, had they not been delayed in the process. Could this be a way to meet the decision deadline and still hold off on more rigorous app checks/interviews?

Anyway, looks like we still have a chance and should make the most out of it. Apart from another recommendation, promotion & taking new courses , I wonder what would qualify as a 'significant' update?

In the document that we are supposed to send to our admission manager, there is a line which says: _______Yes, I would like to remain on the waiting list. Are we supposed to put a tick mark over the ____ part?

Are we supposed to put a tick mark over the ____ part? That's what I did. I just placed an "X" there and filled out the pertinent underlying information. I would also concur with the sentiment that they may have waitlisted a few more than they'd wished due to the technical issues. I assume we'll see rolling invites, since that's what they said. So early January, when they are back from break, I expect some "WL" R1 candidates to be hopping in with the R2 candidates.

I see most ppl r waitlisted without interview. What to make of it? Shouldn't the next logical step be to interview you guys? Did adcom say anything about possible interviews for such ppl? Can they really admit someone without interviewing???
