Calling all TUCK 2008 applicants [#permalink]

Anyone applying to Tuck? I'll also be doing them R1, so just wanted to form a "support group" and help each other out.

Do we have any 2007 TUCK admits from GMAT CLUB? If yes kindly shed light on how should we approach tuck application?
Any specific thing that we should address in essays?

I am a reapplicant and I had my deny feedback, so I may share some experience.
Tuck is very, I mean VERY, conscious of being a back-up school for those applying to UE. If they sniff any hint of not being your top-choice, they ding you straightaway. So you must answer the Why Tuck? question with real passion and conviction. Banalities wouldn't suffice. You should show why Tuck and only Tuck is the school for you and well substantiate your claim.

Applying in R1 is better than ED .. is it true ? I had feeling that the earlier you apply the better it is

I am aiming for a RI app. I want to visit the school before applying and probably wont have the time visit until mid october despite living only a couple hours away, so that eliminates ED. I have been the campus plenty of times before and its a beautiful area, Hanover was just named the #2 place in the country to live. Since I live in the same state if I don't visit I am 100% sure I would get dinged since it would seem like I have no real interest.

I don't think applying in R1 vs R2 makes much of a difference. Tuck's ED deadline is right around the UE's R1 deadlines. While Tucks R1 is more like a R1.5. I think that you are better spent worrying about the quality of your application than which deadline you make. If you put together a weak application it wont make a difference but if another month would allow you to make it much stronger then you are way better off doing R1 vs ED.
That said there is plenty of time right now to get the app together and make it solid. I have thought about it and unless I can tour one of the first few weeks of September I will go R1 instead of ED just to allow myself to visit the school.
Personally I think most people who have never been to Hanover before owe it to themselves to visit before applying to Tuck if at all possible. It is a SMALL TOWN, there is not much to do, winters can get downright nasty at times, and it is a small school. Its a beautiful area but you better like hiking and skiing cause the choices for social activities are very limitted. I personally love the area and would choose it over NYC anyday but it has a lot of limitations due to size and location.

It was available on friday. I had logged in. It seems they have taken it offline again.
