Calling all university of Connecticut Applicants (2015 Intake)

Any idea when they'll communicate about the financial aid?

Yea, it worries all the UConn aspirants out there. But at the same time, UConn made it to FT Top 100 first time this year.

It's incredibly hard to perceive anything from the rankings. I spoke to few guys out there who got admitted in R1 and got to know that its very hard to get GA or $$ at UConn this year.

UConn' average GMAT dropped from 630 to 625 (2016 -> 2017) If UConn won't be able to offer much scholarship/GA this year, things are going to get tougher. I believe students with better GMAT(greater than average GMAT) consider schools that offer a full ride or cover most of their tuition expenses. Quality of the students at the school, to some extent, depends on scholarship to some extent. I'm not sure why the school is not releasing the scholarship details because the applicant pool will keep on increasing with every admit. A call has to be made as most of the students have to take a decision from other schools as well. I hope that the school releases the data soon.

Anyhow did any admitted student tried contacting the current student to know about the drop in rankings?

why is obtaining GA/TA/Scholarships difficult?

I don't think it is difficult/not difficult for any specific year.. totally depends on the availability of funds and on the discretion of the admissions office..

Has anyone heard back from the admissions staff regarding scholarships? How long do they take on an average?? Hope they disclose the information soon; have to make a decision... Enrolled students can perhaps enlighten us on when did they receive their scholarships letters and what factors made them enroll in UConn...

Usually they send the confirmation two weeks after admission, if you have a better option than waiting for scholarship, take it, else you might end up waiting longer than expected.

Yea, it's not just this specific year. R1 admits didn't mention any reason, but UConn is not very generous with scholarships historically.

My deadline of responding to the admission is tomorrow, April 29th, it's hard to make decision without the GA/Scholarship information. What's your deadline? and anyone got scholarship details?

Even my deadline is tomorrow. Tell them you cannot make a decision with GA/scholarship and request for an extension.

Thank you for sharing. I am afraid I do not need to expect GA anymore, but I am just wondering why they didn't tell me directly?
