We don't have access to that data and I imagine it changes from year to year. The admissions office just has to make an informed guess based on the admits from R1 and R2, assume some rate of acceptance of admissions, then calculate the remaining class size. Probably more art than science...

As far as your chances after receiving an interview invite, they're about even with the rest of the R3 applicants that got the invite. Just put your best foot forward when you interview and the admissions committee will take it from there...good luck!

Was anybody's interview kind of so so?

Recounting my interview with Kellee Scott, I feel like I did not particularly do well nor did I really bomb it. I answered all the questions but I got cut off a few times. It was almost exactly 30 minutes. I'm not too happy with it, but it could have been worse I suppose.

Are these interviews make or break the decision?

I just interviewed today. I thought it went well. My interview lasted 50-60 minutes. From what my interviewer told me, I don't think the interview is necessarily make or break. The interviewer doesn't usually see all of your application information before the interview. After your interview they meet with the admissions committee and give their take on you based on the interview. If you have a bad interview, it will probably hurt your chances. If you have a good interview, it will probably help your chances.

Wow. That was a lot longer than the interview I had.

What is the dress for admit weekend? Casual? It says business casual in the packet, but will people actually dress this way?

I interviewed with Shirley Chan. She was nice and a good interviewer. You can only take length of the interview into consideration so much. Your interviewer may have had a full schedule or something else that didn't let him/her spend more time with you.

I had a pretty crazy experience parking at USC. Lot X was full. As I was turning around to leave Lot X, a bicyclist was riding in front of my car. I stopped to let him go by. After he had passed me, I rolled forward slowly. The bicyclist wrecked off to the side of my car. I threw it in park and jumped out to see if the guy was alright. I thought I had hit him. It turns out that he was alright and had run into the curb and happened to be right next to my car. Then I had trouble getting over to the other lot because the lane into it was backed up. I had set aside enough time to get there fifteen minutes early, and ended up not getting there until a few minutes after my interview was scheduled. It was no big deal, but the whole scenario was a horrible right before the interview. I was nervous going into the interview, and I never get nervous for interviews. I settled in and everything went well, but it took a few minutes just to get settled down.

@Gavin: What time was your interview? My interview was yesterday morning, probably before yours. I interviewed with her, too, and my interview was not as long - typical 30 minute interview. I felt like my interview moved along kind of quickly. Either way, sounds like you did really well and probably a shoe in!

I'm still crossing my fingers..it was my first b-school interview. I was so nervous!

you didn't get a merage interview?

was that directed to me? If it was, then, yes I did get a Merage interview - but that's not until next week. =)

My interview was yesterday, 4/23, at 2:00 pm. I had one b-school interview before for UCLA's FEMBA program. That was with a current student though. This one was much better. Shirley was a much better interviewer. I hope it went as well as I feel like it did. Good luck @anerzc. Hopefully you get good news from USC sometime in the three weeks.
