I will start working on my essays soon :P. If I do not hear back from anywhere by Jan 1, then time to start cranking out essays by Jan 15...

Put me down as a "maybe."

For those of you who got in, congrats!
Also, does Foster call or send an email to inform that you got in?
Looks like R1's decision deadline was 12/12, so I guess Foster really waits until that day to notify you.
How is Foster with scholarship?

They sent a e-mail in case of R1 decision.

Looks like R1's decision deadline was 12/12, so I guess Foster really waits until that day to notify you.

Yes they do wait till the assigned time. The mail was sent at 2.18 pm seattle time on 12/12. Its because the adcom has to consider all the applications in R1.

How is Foster with scholarship?

I am not very sure about this. I ll tell you once I get my admission packet. :)

Mishari - I know were accepted to another school (Emory?). How will the Foster admit affect your MBA plans, if at all?

Prashanth - What other schools are you considering besides Foster?

Anyone going to Foster while working for Microsoft? I got a verbal offer of employment and they said they'd pay 100% for an MBA, but Foster is the only place I can think of around Seattle.

It's pretty tempting if original plan doesn't work out.

Same here. Have you visited campus?

I probably won't be able to "connect" with Foster other than at a "Home Town Coffee" event (there's one coming up in Houston this weekend). Anyone have any insight on how much Foster takes campus visits into account?

Hi RJ,
I am an international applicant.I am from Bangalore, India.Foster does offer scholarships for international students. The following are a few nuggets of info I collected on this matter:

1) Foster offers scholarship right from 40-50% of the first year tutions to 5K chunks.
2) Generally there is no full tution waiver.(there maybe exceptions)
3) Foster has a general attitude of giving little chunks of money to lots of ppl rather than giving huge scholarships to a few ppl.
4) As usual, the earlier you apply the better it is from scholarship front

Correct me if I am wrong or inaccurate about any of these facts.Thanks.

Thanks Prashanth...I am submitting my application for Round 3 in couple of days. Admissions office told me that I can email them to let them know that I have submitted and they might consider my application before the deadline. Fingers crossed...sooner the better...both for anxiety and scholarship:)

I read somewhere on their website they only do on-campus interviews, or in special cases they will do interviews by telephone but they seem to discourage it. I think they take an on-campus interview as a sign of serious interest...

I've visited the general UW campus, but not the business school specifically.

To be completely honest my main motivation to applying to Foster is living in Seattle for 2 years :) . I like the city alot, and it seems to place decently in the west coast in general. I'd put UW in the same category as USC.

Hey Prashanth I am from India but I currently live in Seattle so needless to say Foster makes a lot of sense. I have visited the campus and have met a lot of students...it looks pretty good.

I am a 2010 student and prashanthgraj is exactly right.
One note about the timing of scholarships. They wait until THE LAST MINUTE. They never really gave an exact deadline lsat year, but said something like "in a few weeks". I suppose that one could argue that 5-6 weeks later was "a few" :-D Same with admissions. You will find out ON THE DEADLINE if you got admitted or not. I got an email, no call.

Cheers,
ws

Re: Calling all Washington (Foster) Fall 2009 Applicants! [#permalink]
hello,

I'm a second round foster applicant. I submitted my application on 11/13, received an invitation to interview on 11/25 and interviewed 12/03. Currently waiting for decision. I was getting worried about not having a decision (the web site made it sound as though there were rolling notifications) until I found this forum. If last year is any indication, it sounds as though they wait until the last possible minute.

Good luck to everyone, hopefully I'll be joining some of you later this year.
