anybody worked on the "outsider" essay yet?... i'm stuck clueless on that one

I am interpreting this question to be similar to the HBS culture shock essay. I'm going to write about my first trip to China and how I initially struggled to connect to people there but adapted quickly to be successful in my project.

Check out Stacy Blackman's suggestions http://blog.stacyblackman.com/2007/07/1 ... ssay-tips/.

Does anyone think it will be a problem if my culture shock essay and failure experience are the same experience? I am going to try to separate them as one had nothing to do with the other.

It will be really great if you can come with different scenarios for those essays. It will give you a chance to expose various facets of your life.

Talking about the same situation in 2 essays, well .. may make you look concentrated.. just my 2 cents.

I think that you should use the two essays to talk about two independent experiences. These essays are giving you a chance to show as much about your life and experiences as possible. Writing about the same experience may 'incorrectly' hint that you lack the experiences to derive from.

Is anyone else attendng one of their admissions events? I will be attending the one in Atlanta on September 26th...seems like the best way to meet current students, alums, and admissions directors since it's 2 hours for just people from Wharton.

So for my outsider essay, I wanted to talk about when I visited my parents' homeland 7 years ago. Ya think that's too long ago?

Hi All,

Still deciding whether to re-apply to wharton, after getting dinged last year. Anyone else re-applying? Do you know if

1) I have to do the entire app + all essays?
2) Do they require the 2 recs to be new recs? Or can they be from the same people?
3) There's a difference between R1/R2 for wharton? Should a reapplicant apply in R1 for sure?

Thanks!

kripalkavi,

The location is still to be determined. I've spoken w/Thomas Callew and he's trying to find a location. It'll probably be at one of the big hotels, I'll post a location once I find out. Lol, maybe we should have GMAT Club name tags...

hahahaha

thought I'll take this route till I can manage to get one of them B-School books. Big mistake. Started off by filling in "mindless details" in Wharton app today........Kaboom

Turns out that they have embedded very subtly 5-10 more essays in there. Everything from your parents to activities in college an activities after college require a seperate 250-300 word essay. Aaaarrrgggg.

Now I am feeling the exact opposite of productive

you have to do more than the entire app dude.

you have all the regular essays plus reapplicant essays
I didnt come accross any instructions saying that reapps were exempt from reccos.
