I think I'm in for R1. I'm kinda nervous because this and SGSB are schools that I did not visit. I also don't know any current members of the Wharton community, so I'm expecting some inferior essays. We'll see how it turns out though!

I did attend the university events and spoke with some students in order to try to get a feel about the school. If you call Wharton admissions, 215.898.6183, there is an option to schedule an on-campus visit. I think that organized on-campus visits should start, after the pre-term ends, in September, which leaves plenty of time before the R1 deadline. If any of y'all are headed over to visit the school PM me, hopefully I'll know enough by then to show you around.

thanks shmegs! Will definitely keep everyone posted about any plans to visit. they haven't yet posted any dates for their info sessions in the US this year - I'm almost thinking those might be easier to get to! Will keep an eye out for those as well cheers, ac.

Count me in, although I have a slim chance of getting in.. but what the heck .. I wouldn't miss even a 1% chance of getting into Wharton. It's a dream school by all means !

From the bschool info thread for Wharton on this site, it seems that Wharton has higher mean/median work experience compared to say Kellogg or chicago.
I know that Harvard has been trending lower in age, but what about Wharton?

jb32 wrote: Hey, what optional essay do you guys plan to answer and why? this may change once I start working on the essays themselves but for now, 4A - the one that asks about innovating/initiating. I have a couple of strong examples of things I've initiated and the lessons learned. I'm still trying to get a feel for whether the question is looking for examples from extracurriculars or from the workplace. My examples are from the workplace and may not be sufficient for what the W adcoms are looking for... I'm also going to use the optional essay and explain poor performance in a couple of classes I took in undergrad and how I'm compensating in preparation for b-school.... cheers, ac.
