Does anyone know when Berkeley starts to send out invites? I heard it was the middle of December. Right around Christmas??

yeah, roughly in December. All the way up to a few days before the deadline for notification. Super Saturday (for non international and non Bay Area folks) should be the Saturday before notification deadlines.

Thanks kyzak. I am getting a little anxious. Berkeley is the only university left to get back to me.

Berkeley will most likely be the slowest school to get back to you, unfortunately. They say it's because they really spend time getting to know your application before sending out invites. I hope that's true.

With the R2 deadline being December 11, would the admissions committee take a peek at R2 applications to gauge the quality of the pool before making R1 decisions?

I believe i remember the adcom saying they would take a quick glance to see how many they can accept in R1.
Anyone heard anything regarding interviews yet?

I have heard nothing. Just got back from Pittsburgh where I interviewed with Tepper. Waiting for Berkeley.

Ugh. Finally got a handle on Berkeley's main essays, but am struggling with the supplemental questions, specifically the extracurricular activities listing. My most recent job has been at a startup - we just closed our first fund, and I haven't had time to breathe in the past couple of years, let alone do a ton of volunteer work or run for office or anything. I feel incredibly lame right now.

This e-mail arrived last night:
Dear Toploader,
Thank you for submitting your application for admission to the Berkeley MBA Program at the Haas School of Business. Your file is now ready for review by the admissions committee...

I got that e-mail two weeks ago. Seems like they are still working through applications. I think others got that e-mail at different times during the last four weeks.

Got my first cut as well. My reviewer told me to rewrite one essay completely...urggh !
Planning to send the stuff to be sent via mail to them sometime next week.

Looks like some Haas interview invites are out as per BW. Then again, it might be for the EWMBA, it's kinda hard to determine from the thread.

2 All:
If you want me to read your essays and give some feedback, feel free to drop em to gmat[at]zone.com.ua . I got in somehow, so I believe I have some basic understanding of how to write essays.
No promises though, it's quite hectic these days so there might be a delay.

thanks for the offer braindancer! It's great to see the 07-ers come back and help out!
I already submitted my R1 app, so hopefully I can get in too and be your school mate next year. I wonder if I sat in any of your classes during my visits, haha.

I went to an OB class when the director of Orpheus orchestra was there. I think I was in the group with a girl named Jen and a Brit guy who asks very pointed questions.

There is an interview invite reported on BW. Apparently, it's for Super Saturday and the applicant is from the Bay Area.

Hrm... that makes no sense. The admissions director (Pete Johnson) said clearly that they try NOT to invite people who are local to the area to Super Saturday, as they want to save the space for people who otherwise have not visited Haas yet from outside the area. He also said most of the local people (maybe even SoCal) will be interviewed off-campus by alums.
Something sounds fishy about that.
