Congrats and good luck w/ the interview...I'm still hoping to receive an invite, I'm an expat based in Asia. Anyone from Asia receive an invite yet? Where you located BCC145?

I applied in R2 and just received an email saying my application is ready for review. I'm really surprised because yesterday (or the day before) I got an email saying it would take at least 4 wks for them to get all the materials together and then another 4 before they start reviewing apps. Just interesting....

Has anyone heard whether application volume for Haas is more than it was last year? Admissions411 is showing one half the applicants for R1 when compared to R1 last year. Maybe a lot of applicants aren't using Admissions411.

yes, according to a chat transcript, the R1 applications have gone up a bit compared to last year. Though they said it could be because people are applying earlier instead of an increase in total volume (if you believe that).

Okay, December 16th, still no R1 invite.

And I dont read anything here, either. Is noone getting lucky? I mean, with R1 decision due by January, shouldnt Haas have sent out invites by now? I dont think it will happen during the holidays, or am I wrong?

Getting a little anxious over here...

well, BCC is the only person who has gotten an invite on GMATClub. Only 3 on Admissions411 have reported interviews out of 56 people (5%). So I think Berkeley is taking its sweet time. Most invites I guess will come out after New Years, probably after the adcoms read all the apps during winter break.

I'm not as worried about Haas because they are slow (they said so themselves) and only started inviting on 12/3. I'm more worried about Stanford who has invited a bit more than Haas so far and started earlier.

yeah, Haas only has 5% interviewed according to admissions411. It's probably around 8% or so, but since they probably will admit 10-14% this year, they will probably interview 20-28%. Lots more to go, especially since they emphasize how slow they are and how most of the invites will come out in January.

I'm more worried about Stanford, which is at 12% already on admissions411. If their admit rate is 7% this year, they're almost done with the interviews! eek!

Alright, I think this means there will be officially no more interview invites until January... Hope to see ALL of you at Super Saturday on Jan 19th!!! (No, I didn't get an interview invite, I'm just being the "cheerleader-in-chief" :P )

Quote:
Thank you again for submitting your application for admission to the Berkeley MBA program. We are busy reviewing applications and preparing for the University's winter break, and we want to share some important information with you.

Last week, we began to extend interview invitations to Round 1 applicants. We will continue to send out Round 1 interview invitations on a rolling basis through most of January. Since we review applications within each round in random order, there is no significance to the date on which you may receive an interview invitation. Most Round 1 applicants from the United States will be invited to interview on campus during our "Super Saturday" event on January 19th . Applicants living outside the US will have the opportunity to interview with an alumni interviewer in their country of residence. Round 2 applicants will receive interview invitations beginning in February, shortly after we release our Round 1 decisions. Please note that interviews are by invitation only.

The last day for on-campus information sessions and class visits in the fall semester was December 7th. Our daily on-campus information sessions resume Tuesday, January 22nd, and our class visitation program and lunches with current MBA students will be available beginning February 4th . If you wish to schedule a visit, detailed information is available at https://www.haas.berkeley.edu/MBA/visitation.html.

Please note that the Full-time MBA Admissions Office will close for the winter break on Friday, December 21st at noon and will re-open at 9:00 am on January 2nd. We will not be able to respond to voicemail or e-mail messages during the break; however, we look forward to serving you when we return to campus in January.

Best wishes for a very happy holiday and new year!

I am surprised they don't release more invites earlier. It makes it kind of hard on people to expect them to fly cross country (potentially) for the 19th if you invite them on the 10th or something.

I think they might start inviting people after Jan 2nd. That's when they get back into the office. But yes, I don't know why it takes them that long to invite people.

Someone did point out a good reason today. They (Haas and Stanford) have so few spots and so many applicants (relatively) compared to bigger schools like HBS, Wharton, Chicago, and Kellogg. So every invite and ever admit probably takes a little more scrutiny than the bigger schools. (disclaimer: I'm NOT saying that bigger schools' students are of any lesser quality. I'm only looking purely at the numbers/admit rates).

I guess we should all keep the 1/19 weekend open just in case then!

Guys, do you know if the decision will be released on the same day or rolling?
