Kirank-

Congrats from a fellow Darden admit. What other schools are you deciding between? What has given Darden the edge?

Congrats to you too, SkiC. I have a couple lined up and 1 more to go. Darden won the votes because of a number of reasons. Starting from greater autonomy for student initiatives to the involvement built into the case method. I have been involved in various case method like activities and have got some very good outcomes... and $$...so there you go.

I somehow get attracted to places where people warn beforehand about the hard work I have to put in. I see it as a repeat of my past actions.. :)

I just got an email for my Darden interview.

I'm not as well versed in the application process as many of you surely are. Getting an interview is obviously a good thing - but is there any generally accepted theory behind it? In other words how much of their decision has already been made? I know that when applying for jobs the toughest part is just getting an interview and at that point its fairly smooth sailing... not saying this is the same, obviously.

You should feel good about getting the invite. Darden does place a lot of stock in the interview. They test your communication skills to determine your probable success rate in the case study method.

Follow all the "interview rules" and you should be fine...

Re: Calling Darden 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
i have to admit, i too thought my Virginia application was strong. I really liked the essay questions, and felt like i had solid answers for each, and yet i've got no interview to speak of. However, Virginia is dead last for me when ranking the 6 schools i applied too, so i must admit, i won't be too disappointed if i don't get the opportunity to sell myself to them. i think there is a very legit chance that they're looking at my undergrad at virginia tech unfavorably, in state rivalries tend to do that.

based on todays reports, looks like i would've been much better served applying to duke!! gmatclubbers are cleaning up in the research triangle today!

I highly doubt schools frown upon candidates receiving their undergrad education from a "rival". I can't imagine an adcom that immature...
