Applied in R1 (Status: Submitted)
I guess (read hope) the folks at Stanford have placed this for sake of clarity.

I just went through last year's entire Stanford 2007 R1 thread on BW forum and I am now bracing for a ding without interview at Stanford. The reason : I found a post by a user "harshKanda" who had written his essays the same way I have done. Going by the thread, I dont think he/she didnt even get an interview.
I am reproducing his/her post on page 48 of that thread
I figured out what is that I wanted to do eventually and then put a spin on it.
Wrote what mattered the most to me was XXXX because it controls all outcomes - irrespective of the hurdles....
then spun it into my past, how is shaped me, how and what I am doing now and ended with a lead off into the second essay. Picked up the lead in the second essay and then answerwed why MBA why GSB...
Hope this helps...
P.S. This is not to scare you guys. All I am saying is that I am no longer holding my breath on Stanford. Off to do my PT program essays

thanks for the research dahcrap! Yeah, you NEVER know with Stanford. If people think applying to Harvard is a shot in the dark, applying to Stanford is like aiming for the bullseye on a dart board sitting on Pluto's surface.
Don't worry too much about it, at least you won't be "pants pooping" waiting for an answer, and you just may get that pleasant surprise call on January 24th from Derrick Bolton.
I read that more than 1/2 of the admitted students talked about "what matters most" to be "being happy". As cliche as you can get, yet that many people talked about it and got in.

BTW, does anyone know how where to check for Stanford's status changes? Is it just in the application front page? I still show as "submitted", but I'm not sure if I'm "complete" or not. Any ideas? Thanks!

Stan seems to be a big black box......no status check - no material recieved infor.......no final date for interview invits. Has made me appreciate GSB Chic's online app system for once

yeah, which really does reduce the stress level for me. They're so secretive that I just don't really care to check the website anymore unless they send me an email, which probably will be another 2-3 weeks later...

From Stanford GSB:
( http://www.stanford.edu/group/mba/blog/ ... nvita.html)
we began emailing Round 1 interview invitations yesterday. We expect to send Round 1 interview invitations pretty regularly, every business day or so, through mid December. Even during Stanford's winter shutdown (24 December 2007 through 1 January 2008) we continue to read feverishly but tend to bundle invitations and send them every few days. We hope to send almost all interview invitations by 11 January, though some will go out later.

I wish I could just get a def "yes" or "no." The waiting is going to kill me... Though, if I was lucky enough to score an interview, the stress of preparing would kill the other apps I'm working on.

I'm hoping for a later interview so I can get my Kellogg app done and prepare for the interview. But it is typical of California schools to stretch out the interview invites from November to January! Thanks for the link!

Interesting... I hope this isn't true...
Quote: Alicia from Brazil asks: I'm currently in Chicago on a short term assignment and was hoping to come to Stanford for a class visit and to check out the campus. If I can't squeeze this trip into my schedule before I return to Brazil will it affect my chances of getting admitted? Quote: No worries Alicia. Attending any of our on-campus or off-campus events is not an admission requirement and we don't track who's come to visit and who hasn't.
If you have the opportunity to visit it might help you in deciding whether to apply. However, a visit is not necessary to demonstrate your interest in Stanford.
Thanks for your question! Ciao, --Rita

Stanford invites go from 11/1 to 1/11/2008, so there's no use worrying for that school at all.

I guess it's good that I have other apps to work on so I don't mill over my email box waiting for an interview invite... cause that could be a hell of a wait...
