Got an invite for R2
I am leaning towards doing the on campus interview. Any advice on this? Who does it? How long is it? What kinds of questions? Is it based just off your resume or on your complete application? Is black suit ok - that's all I have right now? :?

Also, can anyone recommend a hotel near campus at a reasonable price? Thank you.

Congrats chineseburned! I stayed at the on campus guest housing (forgot what it was called, maybe search last year's UCLA thread for their Anderson Days discussion?) which was right next to Anderson and very cheap (relatively).

Congrats chineseburned!
I interviewed off-campus - but my interview was the traditional resume walk through, specific questions about marketing (my focus during applications - and only because I brought it up during the interview), why UCLA, why now -> it was my easiest interview to be honest. Wish I could tell you more about an on campus experience.

I did a UCLA on-campus interview...I thought it was very laidback and probably the easiest interview I've done (compared to Michigan and Kellogg). It was with a 2nd year student and adcom. Very standard questions (leadership experience, why UCLA, who have you contacted at UCLA, etc etc). I thought interview went very well.

I eventually got waitlisted though...so...yeah....

Can anyone tell me what percentage of the total applicant pool actually gets an interview? And out of the ones interviewed - what percentage actually gets admitted?
Thanks

From the UCLA MBA Insider's blog:

Quote:
Our MBA admissions committee members are reading applications rapidly now, and we are finding plenty of good people to invite for an interview. Round 2 applicants should watch for an invitation in their email box, though we cannot predict when an individual will receive one since it depends on when the application is read among hundreds of others.

We expect to admit fine candidates from our Round 3 as well, so we hope that more people will submit their applications by that April 2 deadline. The MBA Class of 2011 is shaping up nicely already, and we look forward to rounding it out with a diverse group of fascinating students.

Has anyone gotten an invite for R2 today?

Speculatively 35-40% of applicants get interviewed. Of those 80% get waitlisted... but eventually about half will get admits.

I am very excited about attending UCLA. I was looking at housing options and .. man Los Angeles is pretty expensive !

Does anyone know where most Anderson's current students live ? I heard many stay in Weyburn, a special housing complex for UCLA graduate students. What about Santa Monica or westwood village ?

Still no word from Anderson... This is frustrating... Does anybody know the deadline of the R2 "mid decision" phase? In other words, till when should I expect to receive an interview invite?

I am assuming (because of the above blog excerpt) that UCLA will unleash the interview invites in bulk some time this week or next. Frustrating, yes.....worrisome, not yet. :)

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2009 Applicants [#permalink]
Hi,

I'm doing an on-campus interview as well, (I'll be flying in) and I was wondering how long it takes from LAX to the campus around 10 am on weekdays. I'll have about an hour and a half from the time I land until the scheduled interview time. I know there are various transportation options from the airport, but I'll most likely take a cab.

Thank you for your help.
