B is out (over bitterly disputing ????)
D, E are out (dispute about seems wrong)
We are left with A and C

Which one? My guess is A

Need more ideas here

I think it is D.

It is the only sentence that correlates the second part of the sentence properly to Camus.

A - 'in' not appropriate
B - 'over' not appropritae
C - after there was dispute..vague -> dispute between whom?
D - resolves the problem in C and 'after' indicates proper sense
E - 'over' does not give proper sense.

Correct. But, is the choice with the diom giving the correct sense?
That is why D is chosen.

A is best. DISPUTE OVER is the right IDIOM.

C says, Camus broke after the dispute :shock: this need to be of an ongoing nature.

OA is A.

Can anyone explain what the sentence means.

I think it's just a another way of saying that "C and S were in a dispute over ..."

The correct idom is "dispute over".......

FYI......Ash: You've understanding of the sentence meaning is correct.
