Could you provide an explanation for why the two scores differ by such a great extent?

Hi,

I am not sure why my verbal scores were low. But a few replies posted in this query made me realize that too many guesses (About 8) were the reason. I was pretty confident that I almost nailed the first few questions. May be thats how bad my intuition is!

And as far as AWA is concerned, I spent a few minutes trying to jot down the ideas and atleast wrote 5 paragraphs. I felt that I did pretty good...but didnt expect a 6.0. May be the AWA ratings does reward a marginally good performance better than the Verbal Section does.

There lies your problem:

I felt that I did pretty well :) These minor grammatical errors that are overlooked in the beginning SC takes the toll.
