Re: Can CFA Level 2 Hurt My Application? [#permalink]
Hi Brian:

Any professional skills will only strengthen your profile. CFA is globally accredited degree and each level you clear you would further improve your chances of admission. There are few thousands of CFAs worldwide of which only few apply to leading programs. However you should use this strength to your advantage. It would be advisable to stick to finance or general management as post-MBA career goals. Clarity of thought on the functions and industry you want to get in to post your MBA and how you would use your time during your course of the program helps in justify your point of view.

Hello,

I've a very specific question. I've passed CFA Level 2 and I'm currently working as an equity research analyst but looking to switch to Consulting post-MBA. Do you think mentioning CFA Level 2 on my application can have negative implications? Do you think it would make more sense to the admission committee if I stick to finance career post-MBA since I have done CFA Level 2?

Thanks

Thanks AdmitPitch. Yes I think its wise to stick to finance career goals. I think what you said about the clarity of though on functions and industry that's the crux of it. It looks easier but to present it in a robust story is much difficult but I'm working on it.
