Can I report my unofficial score? [#permalink]
16 Oct 2007, 14:13
I'm going to take the Gmat in December. Most dead-lines for R2 fall in January. My question is: can I report my unofficial score and still be accepted for the dead-line, even if I submit my official gmat score later on?
I couldn't find this information on the forum, thanks for your help!

i think this is a school by school issue. most apps ive done dont ask for the official scores until you are accepted, or invited to interviewed. you should be fine using the unofficial score. the official score comes pretty quickly though, so this may not be an issue either way.

I would call the admissions office and ask them. I had to do that since, like you, I was taking the GMAT only a few weeks before the application deadline. I was advised to fax them a copy of my unofficial score report for them to consider the app. complete, but they would not start to review it until they got the official score report.
Also, although GMAC said that it takes something ridiculous like 20 days to get the official report, I believe that I got mine in less than 2 weeks.

I got notified that my schools were notified of my score well before I was, at least a week before. I am sure its a fairly common event for schools so they must have policies for it.
I am amazed at your efforts though, balancing studying for the GMAT and writing essays must be pretty difficult.

That plus a corporate finance job is not easy to combine indeed Doing my best.
I am scared that I won't be able to give my best in both though, 2 months for Gmat study AND still a lot of essays to write, not going to be easy.
I am intending to take 2 or 3 weeks off before the gmat, and I am already scoring 650 on the test software, so I'm fairly comfortable for the Gmat. How many hours does it take to write an essay though?? (rough estimate).

Definitely school by school. Some schools give you the last day you can take the test to be considered for a specific round.
Stern specifically says you can take it as late as the deadline for the round.
