Can some one explain the use of gerunds incase of infinitive [#permalink] New post 10 Mar 2009, 07:31
Hi guys,
i m really getting confused in just one part of sentence correction is when using gerunds(..ing) in place of infinitves
as to when to use a gerund in a sentence bcoz once we know tat it becomes very easy to find an answer

IMO:

1) Do not use Gerunds when correct sentence with proper Noun is in the answer choices
2) When 1 is false go for Gerunds but must confirm that Gerund is followed by article, preposition or verb.
3) Never go for infinitives (preferably). But if you do, please confirm that infinitive is used as secondary verb to complement noun or adjective.

Preference of three types also follows the same sequential order as written above.

Just curious, is there a reason you skip punctuation marks, ignore capitalization rules, and misspell words?
Is it acceptable in the professional environment or am I old fashioned?
