Canadian vs American / international MBA for Canadian career

I'm just wondering what are people's thoughts on the worth of an American / international MBA for Canadians who plan to continuing working in Canada after graduation?
Obviously if you're from Toronto (like me) a MBA from schools like Rotman, Schulich or Ivey would help you develop a more relevant network of alumnus which can help you with jobs / career later on...
But what I'm wondering is, would it be true to say that if you can get into the top 15 ranked schools either American (HBS, Stanford, Wharton etc) or internationally (LBS, INSEAD etc), then the brands of those schools would hold just as much weight, if not more, in terms of job opportunities in Canada? Even compared to the most well known Canadian schools which most people know darn well here?
Plus I guess if you are able to get into those schools, then you still leave the door open for an international or American career if it ever comes to that (since a lot of people say that most people outside of Canada couldn't list a Canadian school if their lives depended on it? And also the fact that even our best schools can barely crack the top 100 at most rankings)
Also, when you look at the salary of a grad from something like HBS vs a top Canadian school like Ivey... The salary for HBS grads are still double ours... Is that a real reflection of their grad's worth to real companies compared with grads from Canadian schools? Or is that figure thrown off because most HBS grads end up working at top firms in the States while alot of Canadians stay local and american firms typically just pays more on average? Meaning a Canadian grad would get paid a much closer amount if they were able to secure a similar job in the States, and likewise... A HBS grad would earn much less than the posted HBS grad avg salary if they for whatever reason ended up working in Canada?
Thoughts?
