Car X traveled from city A to city B in 30 minutes. The first half of the distance was covered at 50 miles per hour, and the second half of the distance was covered at 60 miles per hour. What was the average speed of car X?

a. 200/11
b. 400/11
c. 500/11
d. 600/11
e. 700/11

I had some problem calculating the distance...

Total distance 2x

Time for 1st half = x/50
Time for 2nd half = x/60
total time =x*((1/50)+(1/60))=1/2 hour
x= (50*60)/(110*2)

Total distance = 2x
Total time = 1/2
Avrerage speed = 2x/(1/2)=4x
4x=(50*60*4)/(110*2)=(50*6*2)/11=600/11

t = d/s
h be half the distance
30mnts = 1/2 = h/50 +h/60
1/2 = 11h/300
h = 300/(11 x 2)
total distance = 300/11

so ave speed = total dis/tot time = 300/11x(1/2) = 600/11

The speed has to be less than 55 mph, so just I just quickly looked at the fraction and came to D.
