1. Depending on market conditions, MBAs in IB typically move to the following:
- Private equity
- Hedge funds
- Corporate finance
- Business development
- Venture capital
- More banking
2. Moving into a pure general management position straight out of MBA is a likely as one would think. However, there are some rotation programs that eventually lead to a GM position (P&L responsibility).
- General electric is the classic example, however you can find simlilar type stuff in Tech (software and Internet), Consumer product goods (Brand Management is another classic GM position), healthcare, and Retail. Actually Citigroup has a fin. general management program that is supposed to be pretty good.
