Dear Precision Consultants,

Hope you are doing well,

My name is John Lewis and I am very much interested in applying to HBS, Stanford and Wharton.

I have worked for a top consulting firm in the Energy Sector. I have one quick question and would appreciate any steer from you.

During my tenure at my firm, I have had the opportunity to work on both Renewable Energy projects as well as on Oil & Gas projects (improving sustainability of oil & gas).

In the career vision essay for HBS, Stanford and Wharton. Do you think I am better off emphasizing on Renewable Energy or on the Oil & Gas experience. I gather that Renewables are the next hot-topic for every one living today. However, having worked in the middle east, Oil & Gas is as well a hot topic.

Would really appreciate it if you can let me know whether I should discuss renewables, Oil & Gas or both?

Many thanks for your help,

Cheers,
John

An excellent question. Let's put it this way, each has it's advantage. It depends what your goals are. Whatever they are, your emphasis should match your goals.
Now of course, you can change your goals too :). My tendency would be to advise you to go with Oil and Gas (which if I understand correctly, is the majority of your work( while having one essay revolving around renewable energies to show broadness of scope, not forgetting that it all should fit into one goal. The main thing is to use your best stories to draw a clear line from your past to your future. Choose whatever will help you do that best.
