Hello,

Hope you are doing well,

My name is John Lewis and I am very much interested in applying to HBS, Stanford and Wharton.

I have worked for a top consulting firm in the Energy Sector. I have one quick question and would appreciate any steer from you.

During my tenure at my firm, I have had the opportunity to work on both Renewable Energy projects as well as on Oil & Gas projects (improving sustainability of oil & gas).

In the career vision essay for HBS, Stanford and Wharton. Do you think I am better off emphasizing on Renewable Energy or on the Oil & Gas experience. I gather that Renewables are the next hot-topic for every one living today. However, having worked in the middle east, Oil & Gas is as well a hot topic.

Would really appreciate it if you can let me know whether I should discuss renewables, Oil & Gas or both?

Many thanks for your help,

Cheers,
John

If both interest you then talk about both. They seem to be two pieces of the same puzzle. You could talk about sustainability as an overarching theme and then discuss different paths within that area that interest you.

Do whatever makes sense. Being genuine is much better than trying to tailor your essay to exactly what you think they "might" want to hear. Pick one or touch on both... if it is truly your long-term goal, explain that.
