I'm a first year who just started at Carlson in the fall. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the school. Good luck to everybody in their school search!

Hi MrMBAMan and everyone else,
I have been invited to interview in the coming weeks.
Can you please share your interview experience? What type of questions do interviewers usually ask at Carlson? Please feel free to include any other details.
Your help is much appreciated!

Mostly behavioral interviews: "Tell me about a time when..." Focus on actions and results when describing past experiences and you should be golden. The other part that is important is fit, which they'll be judging by your interactions with current students (if any), and how you come across in the interview. As Carlson only accepts around 120/130 applicants each year, they're pretty focused on finding students who can fit in with the friendly, team-oriented culture. The final piece of advice I would give you is to try and learn about the different clubs and extracurricular groups that Carlson has (there are a ton), and be prepared to articulate which ones you are interested in. Most students on campus are involved in 3-4 different clubs.
Hope that helps!

thanks for your sharing~ Carlson is my top choice. It is "down to earth" and also has good rankings. However, it seems few applicants are interested in it?

Fewer than most top 25 programs, and it's probably a matter of geography. If you go to Carlson, you should be comfortable with the idea of working in Minnesota. About 30 to 40% of students end up working elsewhere, but being willing to work in Minnesota allows you to leverage all of the on-campus recruiting resources that are at your fingertips.
As a matter of fact, it's really an embarrassment of resources from a recruiting standpoint. Minnesota has the largest amount of Fortune 500 companies per capita, and then combine that with the fact that there are no other schools in the area that even come close to matching Carlson in terms of prestige, it makes for a lot of job opportunities. That's why you see the Class of 2011 with that 97% placement rate.

I have 'saved' names and details of my Professional References, however, they have not received an e-mail for filling up 'Recommendation letter'. I tried to search any info. on how to submit, these references, however, could not find any.
Can any one guide me on this?

I believe Carlson only takes the names of references, and then contacts those references on an as needed basis. My references, for instance, were not contacted.

Do we need to apply separately for financial aid or is an applicant considered for it automatically? I am a bit confused because on their financial aid page, I see an application that needs to be filled out. Thanks !
